Kennedy's One Contribution: He Proved The Laffer Curve

SEE HERE  I suppose that there are lots of folks who don't know what the Laffer Curve is.  Basically the Laffer Curve is a way of expressing the point that increasing taxation doesn't always increase tax revenue because increased taxation disincentivizes production especially those at the highest marginal rates.  Why bother to work at all if the government is just going to take it all?  Arthur Laffer made that point with a curve that shows that tax revenue increased with increasing rates until some critical rate was reached at which point the revenue actually decreased because the disincentives became higher than the added incentive of more income and then the tax shrank the economy and the resulting tax revenue.  It's just common sense but liberals go nuts at the idea.  Kennedy's tax cut proved it however.  That was a real contribution! ... almost Kennedy's only real contribution. 

Some people claim the space race was a contribution but I doubt it.  More space related programs were cancelled because of Kennedy than aided and turning space technology into a race meant that it was a show and when the show was over so was the investment in space in large part.  Thanks Kennedy ... sorry you were assassinated but you're were just another politician.

SEE HERE  I don't think the RINOs get it.  They are delusional.  They think that they head a part of liberal-lite that somehow appeals to people who could have liberal-full strength.  Sorry you don't get it RINOs.  You are only elected because the grass roots is Conservative and you managed to get nominated and look slightly (ever so slightly) better than liberal-full strength.  If you dispense with the Conservatives that dominate your base you will lose elections and while the rest of us will then suffer under liberal-full strength at least we won't have to put up with you any more.

Why Do We Even Have A Senate? Have You Ever Wondered?

SEE HERE  Now that the Senate Democrats have eliminated the filibuster on the consideration of Justices they can move on to legislation if the Republicans have the audacity to resist.  It does make you wonder things like 1) Why is there a Senate in the first place? and 2) What is the purpose of requirements for supermajorities? 

The answer is that originally the Senate was intended to be the house of elder statesmen that answered to the legislatures of the several states.  The Senate was to be elected by State legislatures and represent the sovereign interests of the states.  That was changed and destroyed the purpose of the Senate.  Now it is just a big old-boys club that bickers with the House of Representatives.

The purpose of supermajorities was and continues to be the protection of the minority.  True Democracy is just a polite name for mob rule.  If you don't protect the rights of the minority you end up with government tyranny by the majority.  This may not sound like much but just you wait with the hands out crowd decide that they want more of what you've earned and they have never bothered to try to earn.  We're the majority.  We're entitled to take what you have you nasty rich people (rich being people that actually have money they earned themselves) so we're going to take it from you with the full force of the state.  You think that can't happen?  Think again and look over the history of the 20th century and the millions of dead people left by Communism.  Check what Communism taught and believed and then do a run down of what your "friendly" neighborhood liberals believe.  Not a speck of difference except in the rhetoric.  But liberals are liars and always have been.  Look what they were saying about the nuclear option they just enacted back in 2005 or what Obama said then versus what he says now.  "Lie Like a Liberal" has become a slogan of mine just to remind people how dishonest they are.

I remember how the media tried to crucify president Eisenhower when he lied about the Gary Powers U2 shoot down.  I remember how they did crucify Richard Nixon for the Watergate affair, something he had essentially nothing to do with except that he tried to exert damage control and cover up the complicity of some of his people.  Now we have a president who has intentionally lied in a sustained way for several years at least knowing full well that what he was saying was a lie and he gets a pass.  He's a scoundrel and the media that are supporting him are scoundrels as well.  The nation is going down the tubes with the full complicity of the media.

I worked for the government for fifteen years and it was forbidden to participate in partisan politics openly.  Things have certainly gone totally corrupt when in order to advantage one candidate over another statistics are manipulated to give a false impression of the success of policies.  That's deep corruption and an indication that our system is really broken at a fairly deep level.  Now of course the purge of military command officers should give you a hint that things are broken too.  The fact that the president feels quite at home changing the law to suit himself without consulting Congress ... it's all of a piece.  We are living in the days just prior to the collapse of the republic.  Unlike Rome however, we're rather unlikely to go through a golden age of empire.  We have too many tyrants with brains no larger than cockroaches.  They act accordingly.

If you happen to see the Bill Clinton’s five minute T V ad for Hillary in which he introduces the commercial by saying he wants to share some things we may not know about Hillary's background … beware … as I was there for most of their presidency and know them better than just about anyone.  I offer a few corrections.

1.  Bill says:  "In law school Hillary worked on legal services for the poor.” 

The facts are:  Hillary's main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent.  She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal.

2.  Bill says:  "Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children's rights project for poor kids.”

The facts are:  Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party.  She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him.

3.  Bill says:  "Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers."

The facts are:  She flunked the D C bar exam, yes, flunked … it is a matter of record, and only passed the Arkansas bar.  She had no job offers in Arkansas  … none … and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there.  She did not join the prestigious Rose Law Firm until Bill became Arkansas Attorney General and was made a partner only after he was elected Arkansas Governor.

4.  Bill says:  "President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors and she became its chairman.”

The facts are:  The appointment was in exchange for Bill's support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy.  Hillary then became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter's choice to be chairman.

5.  Bill says:  "She served on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital."

The facts are:  Yes she did.  But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Wal-Mart board of directors, for a substantial fee.  She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

6.  Bill says:  "Hillary didn't succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994 but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance."

The facts are:  Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP.  It was included in the budget deal between Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott.  I know; I helped to negotiate the deal.  The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals' tobacco settlement.  Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds.

Then the business collapses, sometimes slowly and sometime catastrophically and quickly. In the meantime the management does what they can to keep the business a going concern. This may involve relocating production outside the country (gee that helped the workers didn't it?) or automating as many jobs as possible out of existence. Unions in the long range are just parasites when they ought to be symbiotic.

SEE HERE  I'm of mixed mind about Thomas Sowell's advice here.  It is prudent advice not to engage in causes doomed to failure but it is also Monday Morning Quarterbacking.  The resistance to ObamaCare was certainly warranted and it is hard to do anything in a Senate where you are outvoted.  Did the resistance hurt more than it helped?  I think we'll have to see.  It certainly threw the gauntlet down.

  I keep seeing required material that has no particular value and "Common Core" is an example of a silver bullet that is vacuous if not downright dangerous.  If you want to understand "Common Core" you should get a copy of C.S. Lewis's book The Abolition of Man and read it.  For Common Core substitute Lewis's term "The Conditioners" who are manipulating the minds of the young before their critical faculties kick in.  Bad stuff!

A Critique From Thomas Sowell Of The Tea Party "Defund ObamaCare"

SEE HERE  I love Thomas Sowell and consider him one of the most brilliant minds among our pundits.  I'm sensitive therefore to any criticism he sends our way here on the Conservative wing of politics.  He applies Edmund Burke's criteria for action: "Preserving my principles unshaken, I reserve my activity for rational endeavours." to the Ted Cruz "Defund ObamaCare" attempt supported by the Heritage Foundation.  My sense of it is different from Sowell's and it may be because I think you have to tilt at windmills sometimes.  Failure isn't the worst thing.  The worst thing is to give up without trying.  So I don't really agree with Sowell on this one.  You have to rally the forces and mounting a charge, even one that fails, calibrates you for the fight ahead.  We need victories of course, but to achieve victory you have to know where you enemies lie and how to overcome them.  I think the fight to defund ObamaCare flushed up a whole lot of enemies.  Now they're called "targets."

Martial Law? Aren't You Overreacting?

SEE HERE  The problem is that putting something in place gradually is far more effective generally that putting it in place all at once.  Gradually we are losing our freedoms to what appears to be a studied plan of "drip drip drip" erosion of basic rights.  Liberty as Ronald Reagan said is never more than one generation away from ending and we're on a deliberate and decadent track to just that train wreck orchestration by the collectivist Marxist and soulless left.  It's intentional and it's been going on for a long long time, my entire lifetime frankly.  I've watched our freedoms going away and I've watched them instill fear and dependency in a nation known for courage and independence.  Today we can't whip our butts without someone wanting to control the toilet paper or the sign on the bathroom door.  We need a resurrection of liberty or we will surely perish.

SEE HERE  I'm fed up to my eyeballs with people who posture as Republicans and then do their best to undermine grassroots supported candidates.  Do these low life ever read the principles of the Republican Party?  Probably not since they seem to support Democrat policies more than Republican ones.  I've never seen more go along to get along low life as those populating the Republican Establishment.  If you got them all together in a room I wonder if you could get them to make a clear summary of what Republican Principles are ... no teleprompters allowed.  Let me summarize and see if you can recognize any of this in their actions:
