SEE HERE  There is something a tad paranoid about the idea that every kid is inherently endangered if there is no adult with them.  This is a relatively new thing in our society.  Most of those of us who are mature grew up in a society where kids had free range of the neighborhood to walk, play, ride their bikes and go pretty much wherever they wanted with nary an adult in sight.  I've shared before that I used to ride my bike all over, miles and miles from home, when I was roughly eight through twelve.  I walked a mile or slightly more to school every day back and forth without adult supervision.  Now all of a sudden it's child endangerment.  What has made our society so much more dangerous?  Oh yeah, there are more liberals, that must be the reason.

SEE HERE  Home Owner's Associations are just a way for one more collective to invade upon your rights.  Whenever we've bought homes we've made a point to say we don't want a home owner's association and except for one lousy realtor up in Northern Virginia the realtors have honored our requests.  That one was sneaky and didn't tell us about the home owner's association until closing.  We almost got up and walked out.  In any case we only owned that house for four years before moving on.  This particular case seems like one more instance of overreach on the part of nosy neighbors.  I guess there are so few people these days doing anything productive with their spare time that picking on someone who does seems like good sport.

LISTEN HERE  Testing what our elites think by measuring the concepts against facts.  Newt contrasts Hamas's views against rationality.  A double standard is being applied.  Israel must be circumspect while their enemies are given free rein.  Outrageous!  Is this at all sensible?  Of course not.  Hamas openly operates within civilian areas to restrain Israel.  This is not a body count tradeoff game.

Joan Rivers cuts to the heart of the issue when she points out "They Started It!"  Shoot rockets into Israel and hide them in civilian homes and what to claim that's Israel's fault.  Using civilians and children as human shields to cover your inhuman treachery and want to claim that is Israel's fault.  "They started it!"  Frankly pushing them into the sea would be too good for them.  Israel should take Gaza and keep it.  They should do that with everyone who thinks this kind of aggression is acceptable.  Frankly we should do the same thing.

SEE HERE   ... and frankly we're not all that good at predicting it, although we've been getting better.   I get a big kick out of all the global warming hoopla when it is apparent from the history of climate that the one thing we really have to worry about it global cooling, in fact the next ice age.  But don't worry it's likely a couple of millennia away, but it's pretty certain to come since we have ice core data that depicts the last four cycles of ice ages.   Something like 20,000 years ago Chicago is said to have been at the bottom of about a mile of ice.  Now that would be pretty disruptive, a lot more than a longer Summer or warmer Northern climes.  Don't worry.  Whatever the weather human being have next to nothing to do with it and couldn't change it much if we wanted to.

One Of The Reasons Government Control Is A Disaster

SEE HERE  As someone who worked as a government employee for fifteen years I'm really sensitive to this aspect of the bureaucracy.  Government regulation generally compels people to fill out mountains of paperwork which basically go unread and unremarked only filling the vast government storage of documents, at least when they are saved at all.  The loss in time and productivity doesn't appear on any ledger anywhere but the result is that everything costs more and becomes less effective.  It saps the energy and reduces the desire to do good work since it makes everything you do more painful.  Why anyone thinks big government is a good idea is beyond me.  No one that has experienced it from the inside would think it was any good for anything but paying unproductive bureaucrats money to police useless paperwork.  It should all be stopped except where real identifiable and positive benefits can be clearly demonstrated.  That's demonstrated, not bloviated about, speculated about and other forms of wishful thinking.  The government can rarely meet this standard.  They talk a good game but generally their touch is death.

SEE HERE  Of course the White House is involved in the mysterious IRS loss of emails.  The IRS was being used to persecute the White House's enemies list.  It's amusing to me that they clearly did this when they used to persecute Richard Nixon for allegedly doing it and then Clinton did it in spades.  The system has become so rotten that each side seems to blackmail the other.  The Democrats have a big advantage because even on the best of days they have no moral principles whatsoever.

The Manufactured Crisis

SEE HERE  The problem is that we can't pay for all the people in the world who think coming to America is a ticket to a free ride in life.  Bottom line: this is an invasion of people with their hands out for the most part.  If they were ready and willing to work they could have done that in their own countries.  All this influx will accomplish is the destruction of a once great nation.

Education Empowerment

SEE HERE  We need to understand that teachers are only secondary to education.  The most important educational unit is the motivated student who seeks to learn.  The typical classroom environment is not an optimal learning environment.  I think it was Mark Twain who is credited with saying that the perfect school is a teach sitting at one end of a log and a student on the other.

You can do three things when you're teaching.  The teacher can tell and then show the student the material using various aids like books, audios, video and the like.  The teacher can show the student examples that illustrate the material.  The final think is the "do" and ultimately that is something the student has to do.  When the teacher does it it's part of the show approach.  Some teachers are boring, some are inspiring, some are enthusiastic but not well informed.  There is a wide range.

Most teachers are simply learners at a different stage of learning than their students.  Those that recognize this are often the best teachers because they don't react like little tin gods but like learners themselves sharing the experience.  Ultimately the goal of education is to teach the student to teach themselves.  You're not independent until you can do that.

The internet is an incredible medium for delivering the dimensions "tell" and "show" and even "do" can be delivered by providing the student with a way to have their work checked.  We can expect the internet to revolutionize education as people use it ever more effectively in times to come.

SEE HERE I went to see Dinesh D'Souza's new documentary "America" yesterday and thought it was outstanding. The review I've linked to takes D'Souza to task for actually pointing out the weakness of the left's one-size fits all case against America. Sorry reviewer — you're just exposing your biases. The point is that the case is not only not black and white, but mostly in America's favor. The charges that the left hokes up are charges which are better aimed at humanity than at America which is D'Souza's point and he makes it effectively. Don't hold your breath for the left to make any concessions. They are seriously invested in their lies and don't plan to change. LISTEN TO COMMENTARY HERE

SEE HERE We went to see Dinesh D'Souza's "America" yesterday and it was outstanding. Structured like a disputation it begins by recapitulating the indictments of the left against America and then after giving all the voices that want to see America radically transformed the documentary switches to revealing what America haters never talk about, the real story.

The real story is one of growing opportunity. And then at the end the documentary goes back and takes a look at the contemporary scene. This is a documentary that outdoes his last one "2016" to present an in depth treatment of what we are facing.

The review linked to above damns the documentary with faint praise illustrating the kind of liberal myopia that accompanies the left with they are exposed as biased liars.  D'Souza never exculpates America for the things it did which are wrong.  What he does is put the whole critique is balance by pointing out how biased the attacks of the left are.  In the court of unbiased opinion I think D'Souza wins.  In the court of liberal opinion, nothing can ever defeat the narrative.  For them America is evil and has to be crushed.  I don't understand why they don't just leave.
