Gaps In the Darwinian Concensus
SEE HERE Like global warming the main support of Darwinism is a "consensus" which of course is not science. Darwinism is largely successful because of lack of competition. Most of its explanation are remarkably circular so that if you test them, or try to, you find that they are built on a tissue of conjecture. The survival of the fittest sounds like a great principle until you discover that the definition of "fittest" is "those that survive." Hmmm... not exactly a robust principle. With the discovery of DNA the whole Darwinian synthesis appear to be in danger. It may be a while, but facts tend to catch up with theories built on a tissue of conjecture. The myth of evolution, that we are inexorably "progressing", ought to be the first to go since it is the one so obviously untrue. Whether scientific Darwinism can survive the challenge of increased knowledge about the complexity of the codes that program all life may be a while in coming. I'm betting we'll need a new paradigm.
