A Post-Scarcity World? Demand Simply Grows To Match Supply
The question is whether people will be better when things are free? Or will they find a deep emptiness that is a gulf they cannot fill? This reminds me of the world of Trank and Tellie that Mack Reynolds wrote about in his science fiction. On the other hand I think this is a tad too optimistic. People with time on their hands find things to fight about all too often. What do you work for in a world without difficulty? That will turn out to be the key question.
