 I regret ever sending any of my children to a public school and I've been watching my grandchildren be indoctrinated so that they are rude to their parents and grandparents when hot-button issues come up that have been propagandized in the classrooms. We have several generations of this now and it has so dumbed down the public square that few know how the nation was founded and what the founding principles and documents say. Instead they have been indoctrinated in liberal and progressive beliefs without any foundation in reason and they act like good little automatons, doing what they are told and very little more. They are drained of creativity and turned into robots.

He mounts a compelling argument that there are a lot of screwy things that have gone on in history that we don't learn about. So I'm kind of interested in what this is all about so I did a bit more research. Below is his presentation at PATCON 2012. State Run Education Doesn't Work

SEE HERE "... nearly 80 percent of those who graduate from [New York] city high schools arrived at City University’s community college system without having mastered the skills to do college-level work."  As someone who has taught Fall freshmen for a number of years I've experienced this failure of the public schools up close and personal.  You can't blame the students for what they've never been adequately taught.  The public schools are a travesty in many cases and they just pass along the problems they create to the next higher level until the students, wholly unprepared, are dumped on the community colleges and universities who are then under a lot of pressure to not be too harsh on the students which then perpetuates the fraud that they are being educated.  School has to have objective standards and performance metrics and stop pretending that everyone is a winner.  There would be no games if everyone was a winner. 

They're Just Saving Money?

SEE HERE To provide a little balance to the hysteria over the amount of ammunition the government has been purchasing The Patriot Post put up the piece shown here.  By purchasing ammunition in bulk the various agencies are saving money and putting in place in some cases a five year supply.  While somewhat plausible, I'm inclined to be a bit skeptical none the less.  I'd be more comfortable with an retrospective analysis on previous ammunition purchases that show that this is just normal replenishment.  I have not seen anyone make that case.

Is The Faithful Opposition Alive?

SEE HERE Everyone seems a bit amazed that Rand Paul's filibuster bore some fruit at least in enlivening the Conservative base of the Republican party who has long been yearning for something vaguely resembling "life" in their party. All too of the notion of "a faithful opposition" seems constructed as a waffley halfhearted support for liberal programs constantly whittling away the principles on which the republic is based. When a few brave men rise up and protest it is inspiring and it makes a huge contrast between their principled stand and their supposed fellow Senators sitting down to a nice dinner with the president. I have no use for senators McCain or Graham, sort of professional lapdogs of the liberal progressives to be trotted out to make bipartisan sounds. I personally am looking for vigorous and principled debate without giving an inch unless forced. Compromise is a liberal word for conservative surrender.

 I didn't want to add a whole new post so just let me point to this response by John McCain that shows him for the disconnected pseudo-conservative that he actually is.  I truly don't know what John McCain stands for.  I didn't know when he was running for president and frankly the only good decision I think he ever made was adding Sarah Palin to the ticket.  But when you look at John McCain  you see a man who seems to be growing senile and irrelevant.  It's time for him to find a nice leisurely retirement occupation.  I'd recommend fishing!

Is there an echo in here? This guy is such a liar. He proposed this plan and then claims it is irresponsible. Then the Congressman, first Muslim Congressman ever, comes on and does a rant (I posted that earlier.) Reality 101 is that a 2.2% cut will be imposed but the decision on how it works is largely discretionary and it's not all that big a cut. Any family could find a way to save that much. Obama is playing a game and the Congressman is in the cheering section. The reality is that they are intentionally manufacturing pseudo-crises as a political tactic. Since they are trying to crush the economy anyway, they have no particular motivation to solve problems only make them more serious. In this case it is a big game.
