Saturation! Memorial Day Tribute

An Impeachable Offense

SEE HERE Things get weirder and weirder in the ongoing scandal about what position was offered to Sestak to drop out of the race against Senator Spector. Clearly something not on the up and up went on and now it's getting worse since it is also clear that cover-up time has arrived. Should be interesting to see if anyone follows up on this. The media have been so much in collusion with the administration that you can't really trust them to follow up.

Duty, Honor, Country! Semper Fi!

"Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives." --John Adams

Mark Levin on Campaigns

The reality of politics, who the winners are and who the losers are. Give Harry Reid a sold conservative. Playing games with the media. Principled people are those we should elect. So called "moderates" and "progressives" are simply those whose principles are dictated by the weather vane effect. The wind blows and their positions change.

Should Policy Be Driven By Facts?

SEE HERE Apparently not if it interferes with the policy you're pushing that will beggar your neighbors for no even detectable improvement in their life.
"But shouldn’t facts drive policy? Not according to Greenpeace spokesman Ben Stewart, quoted by the Times complaining that “[l]egitimacy has shifted to the side of the climate skeptics, and that is a big, big problem.”"
I guess truth has nothing to do with it then. Write off Greenpeace! They are not a serious player only in it for the politics obviously. If truth doesn't matter to you than you shouldn't matter to anyone else. Is that equation simple enough. If it isn't about reality then it is about special interest. Sorry, that's not in the public interest.

Here's Your Future Folks!

SEE HERE Facebook was banned (temporarily??) by Bangladesh. The issues seem to be basically that the social network had done things that offended Muslims: "... for reported posting of materials hurting Muslim religious sentiments." Now I get offended by all sorts of things but I don't expect people to take down websites because I'm offended. I've mentioned in past posts some of the rather filthy things people have done against religious symbols of Christians, and continue to do I might add. One of the prices of freedom is that you have to put up with idiots. Ecclesiastes 1:15 The perverse are hard to be corrected, and the number of fools is infinite.

(Vulgate translation.)

Here's Another Ray Stevens: Oldie But Goodie

Taxes have gotten out of hand. Granted they were once even worse, but that's not excuse for trying to get back to that ridiculous point. Some in government are talking about a VAT (Value Added Tax) which will cripple our economy and just give government more money to waste. The big question should be whether any of the things they are spending the money on really need to be done or are even constitutional. The general answer is no until proven different. Government produces nothing and does it very inefficiently. Most of us can produce nothing much more cheaply.

This Is Fun! — How Many Other Countries Have This Problem?

I suppose we should be flattered that so many people want to come here. Things are pretty good here, huh! Now if I could just get all those free things that would be cool, but I guess I'd have to give up my fun job. So maybe not!

Are Scientists Above the Law? — Some Seem to Think So.

SEE HERE The issue isn't so much science as conscious and intentional fraud with intent to deceive. The idea that Michael Mann should be above investigation because he is a "scientist" suggests a new standard for legal exclusion. Who else should be put above the law? Are good intentions enough to trump intentional deception? Where should the line be drawn? Good science is not just an issue to be decided among scientists it seems to me. The issue is more important than that since it bears on public policy. How is the public to distinguish good science from deceitful, agenda driven, cherry picking science motivated by the desire to advance, not scientific truth, but a political policy objective, possibly greed, control and power? Where does the public that pays for all this "science" sit at the table of judgment?

Disgusting and On Memorial Day Weekend

SEE HERE I'm not sure when homosexuality became something to be approved and even touted as though it were an acceptable lifestyle. Sometime in the 1960's I suppose when all the other weird things were advanced and sexual promiscuity began to be an accepted lifestyle. The reality is that it is a sad, demeaning, low and unhealthy lifestyle that often leads to an early and unpleasant death.

Right is right and wrong is wrong. It seems to be considered impolite to say so now adays. We have come to the point where having morality is seen as somehow a bit quaint if it just were not so offensive to our advanced amoral sensibilities or perhaps more accurately our insensibilities. The fact that this way is the way to the dissolution of the nation has not yet made the radar. By the time it does we may be too far gone.

I saw an interesting book in a religious bookstore yesterday. The title was "The Long Truce" by A. J. Conyers. It is about the destruction of our society, quite literally. Conyers, a professor at Baylor University, "... contends that as a public policy tolerance is used to lay the ground for peace and harmony, but instead of protecting minority groups, it allows for the centralization of power and indifference to values." as one Amazon reviewer presents it.

I think Conyers is likely onto something important. I also happened to be reading "The Diamond Age" by Neal Stephenson (copyright about 1995) It's a science fiction work set in the late 21st century. I found the following sentence illuminating: "He had some measure of the infuriating trait that causes a young man to be a nonconformist for its own sake and found that the surest way to shock most people, in those days, was to believe that some kinds of behavior were bad and others good, and that it was reasonable to live one's life accordingly." The dissolution of society attends the loss of virtue. Make no mistake about that. This insane idea will destroy the effectiveness of the military and offer no very good compensation. Stupidity as well as immorality seems to have descended upon Washington.

Memorial Day Tribute

Some people find it difficult to find the time. SEE HERE and that's too bad.

The Braying of a Donkey is the Sound of Corruption

SEE HERE This piece from The Patriot Post starts off with a quote from Joe Biden, jester in chief of the ongoing ObamaNation! "We have new ideas about how to spend government money wisely." says Joe. >>Are you ROTFLOL?<< I sure was. The notion of government spending money wisely is about as coherent as spending your way out of an economic crisis, also known as how to dig the hole wider and deeper until we make an abrupt financial correction into a replay of the great depression. Don't worry the Demon-crats are on the case!

Then Pelosi, not exactly a fount of wisdom added in part "The Democratic Congress and the Obama administration share a strong commitment to fiscal discipline and common sense in our budget, and we must continue to do everything in our power to boost our economic recovery, rein in the deficits we inherited, and remain responsible stewards of the public purse. ..." Isn't that great! Now don't go into apoplexy on me ... there's more ... but you can read it for yourself ... the part about John Kerry is priceless.

$10 Million to Promote Other People to Kill Their Babies

SEE HERE This certainly looks like an inappropriate use of government funds. I think it might well be illegal as well. This administration just keeps doing more and more unacceptable things. November Is Coming!

Memorial Day: Obama Style (I Mean Obama Has No Style)

SEE HERE "... The truth is that no president has missed the Arlington ceremony on Memorial Day since 1992. ..." Obama is a relatively young president. He's never served in the military. In fact he's never really worked for a living in anything most of us would recognize as a real job. He has about the same sense of the military as Bill Clinton I'd expect. It's a symptom of the liberal leftist, collectivist mindset. They all view the military as sort of a lower form of life. So is it really any surprise? I don't think so, but coming from a military family virtually every member of which has served the country, it pisses me off! This guy leaves no opportunity to denigrate America, no rock unturned. No enemy is so wrong as not to be worth listening to and no friend so good as not to be criticized. In truth this president is a great disappointment. I didn't expect anything different since I thought he was an empty suit from the get go. Everything he has done since has pretty much confirmed it. This is just the latest travesty in a long list. November Is Coming!

The Difference Between What You Want and What You Get

This is an interesting exchange. We all want more than we can have. Often the more we have the more we want. It seems to be the nature of the human condition at least in its fallen state. Payment for work is one of those value things. We often value our work at more than the market. The nature of freedom is that if you don't think you are adequately appreciated you can do something else. Often the role of government has been to force outcomes other than free market outcomes. This tends to distort markets in ways that are unusual. What you tax you get less of. What you subsidize (a negative tax) you get more of. You can always vote with your feet.

SEE HERE for Red State's humorous take on this exchange.

What is really ironic is that the teacher here is actually making more money than she says she should be making SEE HERE and when benefits are included much more. So there is a phony-baloney dimension to this exchange. We need to get the federal government to the point where they balance their budgets and not on the back of the taxpayer. Fewer federal services are just fine with me. I'll be happy with the original set and gladly drop all the extra help we've gotten since the Johnson administration, heck since the Roosevelt administration.

Did I Mention that Distortion (Read Lying) Is What Democrats Are Best At?

SEE HERE One of the most annoying characteristics of liberals is the way they twist your words to mean whatever they want them to mean so they can attack you. This kind of systematic distortion is a peculiar form of lying that the electorate apparently isn't too well tuned in to. That's probably because people are not taught much about rhetoric and about distortions of the language. There are quite a few cute ways that liberals use to distort and twist the record. One of the ones I've always thought was particularly annoying is the shotgun distortion. That's where you accuse your opponent of a zillion things in a pithy easily remembered form. The problem is that to defend yourself against the specific charges takes much more space and you end up sounding like "thou protest too much." A more abbreviated defense sounds like "you didn't address the charges." So this shotgun scattershot malignancy is a favorite technique. Meeting it requires you to cut through the charges like a Gordian knot. A principled stand can do that. Almost nothing else can.

Tell the Mexican President to Show Some Respect for American Law

The administration is simply outrageous encouraging the president of Mexico in his anti-Americanism. We have room for but one flag, one language, one loyalty!

The "Going Green" Fraud! It's Not Going to Happen. It's a Scam!

SEE HERE The laws of physics are not going to be repealed and unfortunately that is what would have to happen for the "going green" nonsense to make any sense. If you all want to starve to death you can stop using energy, but since most people are not that nuts it isn't going to happen. Why not? Aren't wind and solar and all that just great? Well there is the slight problem that they're unreliable and don't work when the wind doesn't blow or the sun doesn't shine. But it is actually worse than that. They are also relatively inefficient, so even when they do work they don't work all that well. You can do some of it if you like. It's expensive, much more expensive than conventional hydrocarbon based fuels and it has side effects like everything else. If you did manage to shift to it (which can't actually happen but we can imagine it) then the same bunch of kooks would be moaning about bird strikes, noise, disposal of solar panels and whatever else they can complain about. The green crowd won't be happy until Gaia has lost it's cognitive dimension, i.e. until man has died out. That's what it comes down to.

Conservatives Are the Majority

SEE HERE There is something decidedly odd about the perspective most Americans are presented with by the media and academia. You would think that conservatives were some sort of exotic, rare, and slightly disreputable creatures. But the fact of the matter is that it is the folks on the left that are the exotic creatures in the zoo. Conservatives stand for preserving not the status quo, but the proven work of past generations. Change should be motivated by need and by good principles. The left is mostly in rebellion against such thinking. All that is old must be replaced by what is new. C.S. Lewis characterized this form of thought as "chronological snobbery" or the idea that your particular culture of the moment is the best there has ever been and the sooner we get rid of it the better since everything that happens "now" is better then everything that happened "before." This is quite wrong, but it took Owen Barfield to argue the young Lewis out of his own chronological snobbery into a more open and forward looking view not only of the future but the past as well.

Perversion Doesn't Stop Being Perversion Because It Becomes Accepted

UPDATE SEE HERE The homosexual agenda is frankly an amazing thing. Perhaps it would be put in perspective if we called it the open adultery agenda. Sinfulness is just that. We can't escape it as human beings but we also shouldn't be trumpeting it as if it is a virtue. Homosexuality is a perverse desire for sexual activity with persons of the same sex. This is unnatural, i.e. it goes against the inherent nature of men and women, and it is damaging to those who engage in it since it causes them to develop their obsession and become psychologically trapped in a destructive lifestyle. We should not legislate either for or against it except insofar as it endangers public order. But it is certainly not something to be encouraged, and to encourage it in the military is to create serious morale problems.

A Man Without Class or Sensibility: Narcissist Is An Understatement!

SEE HERE This man is not worthy to be dog catcher in chief much less the president. Time after time he has demonstrated that he hasn't got a shred of class. How he could have been elected is just baffling. He skips out of town on Memorial Day like anything but the POTUS. But then I don't think he shows any respect for the men and women who lie in Arlington Cemetary, who have sacrificed for the country. He gives multimillion dollar dinners for tyrants and listens respectfully while they denounce the United States. He is no friend of freedom.

Tell It Brother ... Stand Up to the Jihadists

An Explosive Situation

2001 Obama and the Redistribution of Wealth

If our news media had been doing their job perhaps we would have known how much of a radical this character was. "Redistribution of Wealth" is of course code for "We will take you money and do whatever we want with it." Now this nutnik is in power and doing his best to destroy our system. "Bring about economic change through the courts" — does that sound like due process. This is a character who does not understand where wealth comes from. But then he's never had a real job that produces any. Tyranny Rising!

Non-Enforcement of the Borders: Federal Malfeasance

SEE HERE Michelle Malkin nails it. Failure to enforce the constitutional mandate:

What part of Article IV, Section IV of the U.S. Constitution don’t these people understand?

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

Walter Williams Is Cool!

SEE HERE Well now that I've been forgiven ... I'm half Irish and half German. I always joke that my mom had two possibilities. I'd either be a "Taciturn drunk, or a loquacious scholar." Strictly speaking there were two other possibilities, but that wouldn't be funny. The Irish, a lot of them, came to escape the potato famine while I suspect my German ancestors were escaping from Kulturkampf, but I don't really know for sure. Walter Williams comes from a minority which was persecuted and enslaved, but my ancestors were also persecuted. Most Americans come from backgrounds with some sort of disadvantaged past. One of the great opportunities coming to America represented was a nation dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal, not in ability, but in their rights to equal treatment under the law.

Williams on his website at George Mason has the video below of Milton Friedman. Worth a look. The Free Enterprise system is the best system ever evolved to free mankind from the burdens of hunger and poverty. Socialism is quite good at destroying the free enterprise system and returning us all to hunger and poverty. Just give Obama a chance.

Gore on your Dim Future: Of Course He's Spouting Nonsense But There are Always Some Who Believe This Stuff.

Mr. Gloom and Doom spouting the same old nonsense. I suppose the theory is that if you tell a lie often enough people will believe it and keep your carbon credit based investments pouring the money in. It's scientific nonsense however. The amazing thing is how little scientific experimental validation of any kind has been applied to all these gloom and doom models. Contrast Gore with George Allen!

Mark of the Beast ...

SEE HERE Did I mention that the most notable thing about the left in particular is what liars they are? This piece is pretty funny because of the conundrum offered. Two horns of a dilemma and no matter which you're a cheat and a liar. I think that's pretty funny, but then my wife says I have a weird sense of humor. November Is Coming!

Land of the Free, Home of the Brave

SEE HERE The long list of Barack Obama's demonstrated repugnance for America is flippantly regurgitated in this piece. Now what really bothers me more than president Obama's narcissism is that he made no particular secret of his disdain for America. Anyone watching and listening to the man speak, the themes he chose, the fashion in which he developed them should easily have seen all of this coming. What does it say about the electorate that they could be gulled with such relative ease into voting for this empty suit who imagines himself more a Kenyan than an American and who seeks to fundamentally transform America into a Saul Alinsky socialist state. For those who don't understand why socialism is so bad they might look at what a long line of popes have had to say on the topic and ponder why they said it. SOCIALISM
The reality test comes when you ask how it is managed and sustained. The rhetoric is obvious: "You deserve a free lunch." The reality is: "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch." (TANSTAAFL) But of course it takes a while for reality to set in. Then you discover as Maggie Thatcher maintained: "Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money." "So long and thanks for all the fish!" (iconic reference to the message the porpoises sent as they left earth for the stars in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy).

Jon Voight's Letter to America (about 1 month ago)

The deep lie that Obama is injecting into the spirit of our nation. The transformation of America is being undertaken by those who seek to destroy it. Tyranny Rising!

The Night is Far Spent ...

SEE HERE The road leads to perdition and we are well down the path. We seem to imagine that because children are small that the evil from killing them is less. That's the typical thought of the modern secularists. Their next step is to kill the elderly. Then they will kill anyone they consider inconvenient, the ill, the infirm, the retarded with some kind of excuse that their lives are not worth living. We are all immortals those that do such evil will spend eternity regretting their decision for they are becoming in C.S. Lewis's words not immortal glories but immortal horrors. It is so sad, the American holocaust.

George Allen at the Climate Conference

I like George Allen and here is his address to the 4th International Climate Conference sponsored by the Heartland Institute. George is a patriot and a common sense conservative.

For Lack of a Nail a Rider was Lost ...

SEE HERE Lack of a severability clause could allow any challenge that succeeds to take down the healthcare bill. It's important then that a challenge succeed and in the meantime it is important that we get an injunction against the enforcement of the bill. The time it will take the bill to get through the courts will be plenty of time for the Feds to gut the health care system. The whole thing is just an outrage.

Standing By While the Invasion Continues

SEE HERE Patriotism is about defending your country against all enemies foreign and domestic. It appears that we have quite a collection right in Washington. Apparently it is racism for Arizona to attempt to enforce the laws of the United States that the Federal Government has chosen to ignore. Well that's hypocrisy at best and outright sedition at worst. We have millions of people in the country illegally who are committing a civil offense at least by just being here and we're told that somehow it isn't nice to point out the fact and try to deal with it. When a country stops enforcing its borders it stops being a country and starts being a dumping ground for every sort of malcontent or perhaps in our case people hoping to cash in on the lousy enforcement of our eligibility rights for all sorts of freebies. Patriotism calls for standing up for doing the right thing, enforcing the law, changing it where necessary but not just ignoring it. But I suppose the Democrats have been ignoring the law for so long that it's become second nature to them. After all they don't care about the Constitution. It's a living document which means just what they want it to mean at any given instant. Tyranny Rising!

Now We're Issuing Death Sentences for American Citizens on Suspicion of Incitement to Violence

SEE HERE This is troubling. Signing anyone's death warrant is an ugly business, but signing it without even some sort of formal tribunal that weighs the evidence is worse, it's a fundamental form of tyranny. This administration does that pretty casually in my opinion. The odd thing is that they do it so inconsistently. This guy who gave all the warning signs just shoots up Ft. Hood and we're supposed to roll over and play dead and not say anything bad about Islam, etc. But this other guy who at worst seems to have said some thing like the Rev. Wright, you know the guy Obama says was his mentor who he listed to supposedly on a weekly basis for twenty years, get target for drone missile attack. Tyranny Rising!

The Obama Dossier: Old News

The question is whether this fairly represents Obama's actual activities. A great difficulty is that Obama has not released any of his personal records. This frankly smacks of deceit. These are the kind of records that every employee, for example, commonly releases to employers (college transcripts, etc.) and real birth certificates, not just certification of live birth, are often required for proof of citizenship by such government agencies as the social security administration. The record of taking money under "false?" pretenses as a foreign student if he was in fact an American are disturbing. In all the things that I can verify from other sources in this video seem to be accurate. So you decide if this is troubling. I don't think there is any question that the total impact of his actions suggests that he is no particular friend of freedom.
November Is Coming! This video was observed at Political Pistachio
and forwarded to me by a friend.

Korea Back In the News

SEE HERE Stage 2 — Be concerned, but optimistic. The North Korean bullies have little to offer the world and everything to lose so they may well back down. If they insist on being belligerent and push the aggression they have already launched then it may be smack down time. This will be good for Obama who currently has a Wimp #1 reputation, so I'm hoping it will all blow over nicely. The last thing we need is a continuation of "The Forever War."

GOLD

SEE HERE "Good as gold." Well the ultimate commodity from the standpoint of risk is gold. It isn't that gold doesn't change its value because it certainly does, but it had a tendency to never go to zero while some asset classes can do that fairly readily. As fiscal irresponsibility rules the day in Washington gold is getting more and more attractive to many investors who just can't figure out what is going to happen but who feel an ominous drumbeat as Washington does things that seem to bear little on fiscal restraint or common sense. An air of financial pessimism is becoming more common. I'm not all in gold by any means myself (not that my meager investments count for much). I'm currently in Australian dollars, gold, oil, and cash for my personal IRA account. You can probably tell just by that list (oh yeah I'm holding Chinese yuan's too and I'm short U.S. Treasuries) that I'm not real confident that the bulls will win the stock market debate with the bears. But we'll see. I'm no pundit. I do try to track a reasonable sample of those that are and they're not currently a happy lot.

Airhead Takes On A Whole New Dimension

Remember the health care debate when over 2000 pages of legislation just sort of appeared and none of the members of the congress actually read it before they voted on it? Remember that? I kind of wondered if no-one had read it who had proposed it and how was it written in the first place? Pelosi, not exactly a brain trust, suggested we pass it so we can find out what's in it. That's a novel way of making law. Now we have the flip side of being against about a 17 page law, most of which is boiler plate, that the talking heads out of Washington have not had time to read but they know they don't like it and are demonizing the good people of Arizona who have about been fed up with the violations along their borders including the murder of citizens. Get real folks! We have a word for this kind of governance, but it's too impolite to use here. I try to run without excessive use of profanity, but sometimes it's really hard when the stuff is so deep and gooey. November Is Coming!

Civitas — A Fundamental Value

SEE HERE "Civitas" is the Latin word for citizen. The significance of Roman citizenship was profound in the ancient world. St. Paul had only to declare "I am a Roman citizen." to be treated very differently than he otherwise would have been treated. Citizenship is the mark of civilization and the rights of citizens are fundamental and characterize the quality of the state. United States citizenship is unique because it confers rights beyond those is many other nations. We see however that our own president is more a fellow traveler with dictators, tyrants, and plutocrats than with those for whom the civitas of the United States is meaningful. Sworn to up hold and defend the United States Constitution, president Obama treats the citizens of the United States as if they were vassals or worse, serfs. Tyranny Rising!

Beyond Stupid, Beyond Insensitive ...

Daniel Pearl (October 10, 1963 – February 1, 2002) was an American journalist who was kidnapped and murdered by Islamic militant terrorists. SEE HERE and HERE
"I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew Daniel Pearl in the city of Karachi, Pakistan," SEE HERE
"Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world's imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is." — President Obama
Just what we've come to expect from the Narcissist In Charge (NIC) also works as Nitwit In Charge. This is so far beyond insensitive it is hard not to be speechless. SEE HERE If you don't remember what happened to Daniel Pearl than shame on you. Our "religion of peace" enemies cut his head off on television for everyone to see. For Obama it is "one of those moments that captured the world's imagination" but for anyone who is human it is far more. It is an act of barbarism that should show the whole world what our enemies think of freedom and what awaits those who do not submit to the religion of peace. The ugly reality is that we are at war with barbarians and we continue to want to play patty-cake. Our president is an empty headed numskull who instead of giving us leadership is trying to radically transform the country into either a leftist fascist state or a socialism utopia depending on which side of the aisle you happen to be on and what you're smoking. Tyranny Rising!

POTUS Speaks At West Point: Articulates the Usual Drivel

SEE HERE It would be nice to have a president who actually believed in the United States and the force of good and the promise for the future that it represents in the world. Instead we have a president who bows to kings, kowtows to dictators, trashes the United States and endangers our security while mouthing the usual mantras currently enshrined by the keepers of Political Correctness. I wince when I read the kind of nonsense he purveys and it is particularly tragic that he does it at West Point to our young officer corps whose motto is "Duty, Honor, Country" when this man believes little in duty, has even less honor, and trashes the country more often than not.

Shroud Exhibit Closes Until ... Some Future Time

The Shroud of Turin continues to be an object of mystery and fascination. This short video sums up a bit of the more recent material.

This Is What You Expect In A Fascist State

SEE HERE Welcome to intimidation SEIU style. The gig is that we force banks to lend to people who are bad risks and then we blame the banks when the bad risks prove to be ... well, bad risks and can't pay their loans. How is this really different from stealing or protection rackets? This is what I'm coming to expect from the folks that supported president Obama. Bad loan practices forced down the throat of banks and then forcing the taxpayer to bail out the banks that have been victimized. If this sounds like something out of bizarro world it's because it is.

Korean Situation Heating Up

SEE HERE Apparently South Korea has concluded a study which found that their ship was sunk by North Korean torpedo attack. North Korea is denying it and threatening war if any retaliation is pursued. CHECK HERE TOO

Morano: Global Warming a Dead Issue Politically!

CLIMATE DEPOT MORANO audio, about an hour, talks about the global warming scam.
Even the media is starting to run scared of the issue since it has been exposed as such a dishonest scam. Listening to Morano is a treat. He really lives this climate stuff and is completely on-top of it. He was activated by his discovery that the rain forest alarmism was phony when he investigated it. His perspective is fascinating as he shows that the same cast of characters all used to be alarmists about global cooling, then shifted to global warming, and now that that is falling apart they're casting around for new scams. It is outrageous listening to the systemic fraud that gets spun and pretends to be science. Fascinating!

Introducing the Old Jarhead! — Oldie but Goodie!

SEE HERE I suppose you've not seen this, although since the piece has circulated around the internet for at least a year you may have. It cycled through my email again today. I'm on all sorts of email lists, left and right, to keep on top of what is going on. This piece came in again today from one of my correspondents, slightly modified to bold all the repetitions of I'm tired.

I can really identify. I'm tired of all the crap and propaganda that I get fed, really from all sides. I'd like a whole lot more analysis and a whole lot less "This is the way it is." There all altogether too many people wanting to tell me what to do as if they know. My mom used to say "MYOB" which for the sake of those who didn't have such articulate moms means "Mind Your Own Business." Well I'd like to tell the government to "MYOB" and the hell-bent on Shariaizing the world Moslems "MYOB" and all the liberal progressives who think they have solutions to "MYOB" and maybe if enough people found something useful to do instead of telling everyone else what to do we'd have a whole lot better world. Just "MYODB", i.e. Mind Your Own Damned Business!

Fascist, Socialist, Communist, ... Statist, Corporatist ... Whatever!

SEE HERE I may have put this up before ... I don't remember and I'm too lazy to check so here it is again. Is Barack Obama a socialist? That question seems to get answered by many in the affirmative and by some in the negative and all in all who cares? Policies are more important than labels as this piece points out and the resolution is that all the statists are for big government because government is supposed to cure all ills and set everything right. Then there are those of us who like that on balance government is more often the problem than the solution. Sure there are things that government is needed for, but it is far from being a panacea. Government is a poor solution for almost everything, even those things where it is the only solution. If you don't believe that then you're something like a socialist, at least you're on the same page.

Michael Voris Reads a Letter

I occasionally put up Michael Voris' material. It's the orthodox, traditional Catholic take on things so of course if you are not Catholic it may be jarring on occasion. This piece I put up to illustrate the fault lines within the practice of modern Catholicism which currently contains dissenters of all kinds from crypto-Wiccans to extreme relativists and they all attack the traditions and truths which the Church is committed to sustaining. In a sort of microcosm it illustrates the cultural clashes of the wider world around us where truth is besieged by fashion and decadence in every direction. We live in a world where as a former boss of mine liked to say "perception is the truth." But of course perception is often enough delusion and not the truth at all. "A little learning is a dangerous thing; drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring: there shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, and drinking largely sobers us again." — Alexander Pope 1709.

Misreading the Electorate ... Back to Freedom!

SEE HERE There must be something in the water in Washington D.C. for such inane ideas to prevail all the time. "Anti-Incumbency" — Well I suppose first you have to explain exactly what the inside the beltway airheads think it is about incumbency that makes the voters dislike it. Maybe it's those things some of the incumbents (read Demon-crats) have been doing. Maybe the voters are not just a bunch of sheep ready to jump to whatever the media says is the thing to do. Maybe hardworking Americans want to decide for themselves what to do with the money they earn rather than turn it over to a bunch of wastrels in Washington. I think I mentioned sometime earlier that I used to quip, "Be thankful you don't get as much government as you pay for." Well we're getting way more than we need and I'm beginning to think that government is the biggest single obstacle to prosperity. We need a lot less of it. Government is toxic as currently operating. November Is Coming!

An Interesting Take on Palin: Principled Conservative, Frontier Woman

SEE HERE In case you've been imbibing the characterization of Sarah Palin being promoted by the chattering class you might want to look at this contrarian piece from the heart of her constituency. Sarah Palin energizes her base because she comes across as authentic which is a welcome change from the average politician these days. She has more common sense than most of the inside the beltway babblers. It will be interesting to watch her development in the years to come.

The Republicans Need to Rally Around Principles

SEE HERE More on how stupid Republicans can be. Don't get me wrong. I stand with Republicans as a matter of principle. But you have to say that they are a sad lot on the whole as they float around in a mish mash between trying to be facilitators of bad policy, and try to posture as lone independent voices for liberty. Give me people who have articulated principles and stand by them every time over wishy-washy trend followers. Here we have veteran public opinion pollster Patrick Caddell agreeing with what Ann Coulter said pretty much down the line. In particular look what he says about the advice Republicans are getting. You can't tell me that the consultants aren't enemy agents. I don't trust political consultants at all. The very idea is liberal/progressive. So what do you expect?

Republicans Tend to Count Their Chickens Before They Hatch

SEE HERE Joseph Sobran often calls the Republicans "the stupid party" and generally because they acted the part. Ann Coulter, one of my favorite political commentators because she is so smart and so in your face and so right on, points out that to snatch defeat from victory you just need to follow the advice of a Republican consultant. I've often wondered if the average Republican consultant isn't a Democrat in disguise and the Republicans are just too darn stupid to notice.

Here's a Nut Job Who Is a Teacher Inciting Revolution

This guy is a teacher in L.A.?? I think he needs to be up on sedition charges and maybe incitement to the violent overthrow of the United States. As a minimum he should be a teacher no longer. If he likes Mexico so much maybe he should be shipped out.

A Succinct Summary of Why Global Warming Is A Hoax

SEE HERE for an interesting summary of what a lot of prominent scientists think about the global warming thing. “I am of the opinion that [global warming] is one of the greatest hoaxes ever perpetrated on the American people.” says Dr. Richard S. Lindzen M.I.T. professor. CHECK OUT his 1992 paper which already fingered global warming as a unlikely outcome of CO2.

The Supreme Court Is Out of Line: Again!

SEE HERE Since when does an international treaty that the U.S. is not signed on for a precedent under U.S. law? "Earth to the Supreme Court" ... "You're supposed to be enforcing the Constitution ... take a deep breath and remember your charter." Let's not get too palsy walsy with the other two branches of government either ... it's called checks and balances remember, not buddy up and turn into tyrants.

Good Luck Suckers!

SEE HERE The stuff hits the fan as early as 2013. I want to thank the administration for their total stupidity ... of course I'm being sarcastic. Let's see if we can spend some more money to buy our way out of fiscal irresponsibity? Hello ... neuron one to neuron two pause ... SILENCE neuron one to neuron two SILENCE ... sound of a toilet flushing ... Sometimes there just are not enough neurons to support rational thought. Welcome to the vast left wing stupidity! November Is Coming!

November Is Coming! — It Can't Come Too Soon!

Corruption? Not Among the Anointed ... No Never!

SEE HERE Well I guess it didn't work. Arlen Specter is history, but isn't that interesting about the deal to buy off his opponent. Gee, you don't mean that there's corruption in the administration? Fancy that!? I personally think there almost nothing but corruption in this administration. We need to follow all the money that seems to have been being spent in vast sums in a short time. That simply reeks of it. Throw the bums out and start an investigation of where the money went to. November Is Coming!

Nanny State Over the Top

SEE HERE Where exactly in the constitution is the provision that says that the Federal Government is responsible for telling me what I can eat. It might be argued that they should protect me against positive danger by informing me. But there certainly in no mandate to control my diet. Any excuse to regulate something seems to be the rule. That's clearly a sign of government out of control, run amok. Tyranny Rising!

Have You Thanked a Federal Regulator Recently?

Radley Balko wrote at Instapundit: “It takes a peculiarly bureaucratic sort of mendacity to dream up the idea of using taxpayer money to promote a contest in which taxpayers are asked to make videos celebrating the way their tax dollars are being used to make their lives more expensive.”
Sometimes the pain of laughing is too much. The Federal Government represents the biggest burden on the free market you can imagine. The cost of compliance with the myriad of mindless rules ginned up by Federal bureaucrats with too damn much time on their hands pretending to have the common good at heart is immense. How was it possible that we ever managed to exist without our leash and collar. We don't need all this regulation. Human beings have heads on their shoulders and don't need all this frankly unconstitutional help.

Specter Loses: Couldn't Happen to a Better Turncoat!

SEE HERE As a former Pennsylvanian I remember when Arlen Specter was first elected. I didn't like him then and I never liked him. He was always an opportunist, a glad hander, and a man on the make. He's always been a RINO. My taste in politicians is definitely more towards the honest, principled, go down with the ship if necessary types. That type isn't seen much these days and the republic is the worse for it. I hope we collect a lot more incumbent heads in the months ahead. November Is Coming!

Border Security? We Have Would Be Terrorists Coming In All the Time

VIDEO 1 VIDEO 2
This is seriously disturbing information. It is very doubtful that all these non-Mexicans from terrorist countries are entering the country illegally so they can play patti-cake. In the first video they show some prayer rugs that have been found with terrorist oriented symbols on them. We need to secure the borders before we have a major terror incident caused by organized terrorist teams entering the country from the South. Threat Level Rising!

The AWOL Press

SEE HERE It's really disgraceful that the press has become so ideologically committed. They have lost all credibility with me. They are no longer a reliable source of news. Instead they are ideologues that have to be "on-message" which mean feeding the public the propaganda that they have committed to. They are about delivering results that support their agenda and not about discovering and telling the truth. You can no longer trust the press to be anything more than a cheerleader for the left. Too bad! A free press and honest press is necessary for a free society. Luckily we have such a myriad of information sources today that we don't have to have the press, but someone has to validate the information or it is a confusing cacophony of differing elements. I watched some of the video sourced from the Heartland Institute's Fourth Climate Conference and it was impressive. I've been to many scientific meetings and this one was as good as any. I wish them well and hope they have many more meetings. But where was the press? The answer is off trying to stoke up more support for their extreme agenda apparently.

Remember and Be Grateful

SEE HERE A friend just sent me this footage from VJ day in 1945. I always say I'm the youngest member of the Pearl Harbor Survivor's Association because I was a fetus at Pearl Harbor on the day of the Japanese attack, December 7, 1941 an iconic date like September 11th. My dad was serving as ordnance officer on the light cruiser Detroit and was defending the ship during the attack. My mother and I were evacuated to the mainland and I was born on the day of the Battle of Midway, June 4th 1942. So I always joke that the sinking of three Japanese carriers and the crippling of a fourth was revenge for trying to kill me at Pearl. Fact is though that this was a difficult time in our history. World War is no picnic and this footage captures both the relief and something of the scope of that time.

Haven't We All Had Just About Enough?

SEE HERE Governor Jan Brewer tears Obama a brand new one. The problem is that Arizona is on the front lines of this problem and it has reached the point where citizens of Arizona who live near the border live in fear. It's an outrage and she points that out. Go to the link and watch the video. I promise you it will be a treat!

What A Bunch of Hypocrites!

SEE HERE Have you ever noticed how liberals complain about political polarization? It always comes up when they're losing. We're mean spirited or polarizing or not team players. When they are in ascendancy they treat any opposition with disdain, unworthy of notice. Notice how hard they worked to reach across the aisle and find common cause in the recent months. Not at all. In the past when they've made a deal they have always cheated and reneged, often before the metaphorical ink was dry. You can't make a deal with a Democrat because they view all such maneuvering as merely a ploy to get your support. This of course makes all their claims that you're the one that won't cooperate simply a sham. I've watched this my whole life and keep wondering why anyone ever plays ball with them. They are liars and cheats and hypocrites. They have so rarely honored an agreement that I really can't remember one but I can give you a litany of agreements and dishonorable behavior all down the years. When I was young I was a two party kind of guy, wanting to vote for the best man with the best ideas. I've hardened into a diehard Republican, not because I'm all that fond of Republicans, only that since there are really only two parties I'll vote for the one that is more principled and lies less. But frankly I'm sick of the unprincipled behavior of most politicians and if I could I'd reboot the whole system.

The Ice Age Cometh ... well in a few thousand years maybe!

SEE HERE No sooner do we put the global warming alarmists out of their misery than the drum beat of climate change begins to move towards global cooling. It's not too likely that we have much to do with that either. Weather changes ... it's part of a very complex, very large scale system of complex forces and the driving energy of the sun. But it is a fun thing to study!

No Case for Global Warming — We're the Main Stream, They're Climate Alarmists

M.I.T. professor Richard Lindzen says to stop styling ourselves as skeptics. That implies that there is something plausible about global warming theories. But that is not the case. In 22 years they have not made their case. It's over! (I'm tempted to say there's settled science and a scientific consensus against them, but that would be suggesting that either of those characterizations are ever true. Science is never entirely settled, and science is not done through consensus. If you want to do consensus become a politician or a historian.)Nothing to be concerned about except perhaps another ice age in the millennium ahead.

Gee ... Shouldn't We Enforce the Law and Protect Our Borders?

SEE HERE and HERE I am really amused by all the smoke and fire stirred up about the Arizona immigration law that everyone seems so upset about, at least all the liberals. We seem to be the only nation in the world that seems to ignore the enforcement of our borders and act as if they should not be enforced. There are any number of rather biting critiques on the internet of what would likely happen to you if you ignored the immigration laws in other countries and violated their borders.
I put up Ray Steven's humorous song a few posts back. But now we have California threatening to boycott Arizona over this thing? Hello! I wish the liberals would stop being ashamed of the United States for whatever reason they have conjured in their fevered brains and start using a little common sense even if it will exhaust the few neurons they have left. We are a nation state. One of the things Nation States Do is Enforce Their Borders ... It's not Rocket Science. While we're at it could we stop having all this accommodation to Spanish and start making folks learn English before we can't understand one another. Multi-lingualism isn't very helpful. The world would be better off if everyone spoke the same language. The Tower of Babel was not a story about something helpful.
Things are bad enough in Arizona that John McCain wants the president to send troops to help secure the border. SEE HERE

Something to be Thankful For! (at the end of the piece)

SEE HERE Some thoughts on Social Security, worth pondering! This is especially so since the program continues to be troubled by fiscal irresponsibility on the part of the government. It also doesn't help that through abortion we've been killing off exactly the folks that would be paying in the social security funds which this giant Ponzi scheme need so that they can keep paying out. So in some sense the crisis which is coming has been produced by those upon whom it will be visited. On the other hand, a lot of people have been forced to "invest" in this phony system for a long long time. Had it been sensibly invested in real securities or even in something like gold we'd have a lot more than we're going to end up having. I'm still inclined to repeat on of my favorite sayings: "Be thankful that you don't get as much government as you're paying for!"

The Beat Goes On! Wonder What Obama Is Hiding?

SEE HERE This got my attention mostly because Patriot Update had a broken link to it so I googled the headline and found the reference. The whole "birther" thing continues to have traction only because the president continues to stone-wall. It remains the most odd aspect of the whole thing that he doesn't just release the original birth certificate if it exists rather than continuing to pretend that a certificate of live birth is the same thing. It isn't. I can't confirm most of the other things in the story. The whole idea that the whole government knows he is constitutionally ineligible for the office is simply ridiculous. But what remains mysterious is why he doesn't just release the document. So long as he doesn't the suspicious, in which group I number myself, will be convinced that you don't spend 2 million dollars plus hiding something that everyone else has to produce, for example to prove eligibility for social security, so something must be not quite on the up and up. A VIDEO FROM DECEMBER 2008
