This is something essential to understand: the difference between Market Entrepreneurship versus Political Entrepreneurship.  The one is the free market and the second is what is also called "crony capitalism" and tends to be inefficient and corrupt.  Conservatives are in favor of the first and against the second.  One is competitive and the other tends to be simply government subsidized and hence largely non-competitive and stagnant.

Those Who See Racism Everywhere Are Racists

SEE HERE There is something pernicious and evil about this "racist" meme that the left keeps spinning up.  Now we have people saying that the song "White Christmas" is racist.  That's like the long since demonized "Little Black Sambo"  being condemned as racist which it is really a charming story about the cleverness of a little Indian boy.  Googling around I got various takes on the history of the story which goes back to 1899.  There is nothing racist about it but the usual gurus of racism have pretty much demonized the book for no very obvious reason.  I remember it from my youth and it never occurred to me then or since to see racism as having played any part in it.  In fact I think quite the contrary.  Oddly enough Huckleberry Finn, an anti-slavery book, has also been condemned by these loose cannons that pretend to be so racially sensitive.  Mark Twain's book was a send up of racism, but you'd never think that from the condemnation it has received.  I've always liked the bit from Huckleberry Finn which Hal Holbrook uses in his recording of Mark Twain Tonight where Huck saves Jim who is escaping to the north by lying to the pursuers.

  We are a lot less free in America today than when I was a child.  The encroachments grow each year always for our own good of course, or so they say, but the reality is that our margin for personal choice grows ever smaller.  Even little things like wearing a helmet on a motorcycle or a seat belt in a car.  Sure you should, but making it a law. 

Since when is it illegal to be stupid.  If that were faithfully enforced we'd have no representation in Congress and the president would be in jail.  Innumerable things have been declared illegal or regulated.  Every kid used to carry a knife.  Many had rifles and were taught to shoot by their parents.  A lot of schools had rifle teams.  Kids went places by themselves and actually played games without adult supervision.  I could probably go on all day about the things we once could do and did do which are now deemed illegal or inappropriate and of course it's all for our own good.  The result is a generation of people who expect to be taken care of and who actually seem to need to be taken care of because they've never acquired a sense of personal responsibility.  Thus does a great nation die unless we do something to turn it around.

SEE HERE I wanted to be a journalist at one time in the distant past in the time of my youth.  Sheer folly I suppose.  My dad changed my mind through the pure expedient of making it expensive.  He basically said he would not pay for a journalism degree.  I don't suppose he said it quite that way, more like preferring that I pursue a degree in science since I was so good at math.  I didn't end up a journalist for which I have my father to thank and he also showed me how to learn to type by myself so that I now type around seventy words per minute.  But the sad thing is that what passes for journalism these days is so despicable.  It makes me wonder why I ever thought it would be a good thing to do?

SEE HERE I guess this isn't a surprise.  The irrational response on the part of the black community in Ferguson shows how divided we are.  Michael Brown's death was a tragedy mostly because of what he might have been rather than what he was.  Given his behavior towards legitimate authority and what it appears he was doing before the attack on the officer and how he reacted during the attack the outcome was predictable.  Had the officer not fired Brown would have pounded him into the ground and his life was definitely in danger.  I'm sorry for the family, but I'm even sorrier that they didn't bring up their son to be respectful of authority and a good citizen.  The problem is not in the non-black community.  It is clearly a problem in the black community that harbors hatred, racism against the whites who are used to excuse all the bad behavior, and a failure to embrace upright morals and virtue and instead allow themselves to be victimized and played by the race manipulators.  It is tragic and it's intentional on the part of the manipulators.  The black community needs to wake up and stop blaming others for their own failings.

SEE HERE It's funny how the people who yell 'racist' the loudest are in fact the biggest racists.  The Democrats have been the party of racism since forever where forever goes back at least to the period just after the Civil War and extends at least as far as my birth and development so that when I was in high school they were still maintaining the KKK and segregation in the South.  It hasn't really changed that much.  The only thing now is that the racism is somewhat more muted and expressed in more subtle ways such as affirmative action and the implication that people in the black community can't really take care of themselves or think for themselves without government help and entitlement programs.  The reality is that excellence does not emerge from that environment, so only the form of the slavery has changed.  The Democrats are still maintaining the plantation.  It's just moved.

A Hard Look At Reality In The Light of Yesterday's Mid-Term Elections

The material below was distributed by Heritage Action and it's food for thought when deciding how to move forward to try to restore America before we turn into just one more 3rd world banana republic.

1. Candidates win when they campaign on conservative principles. In race after race, Republicans who won campaigned on repealing Obamacare, stopping amnesty, and restoring limited, constitutional government. Remember: just a year ago, the Establishment told us that fighting Obamacare would cost Republicans in the election.

2. The American people are frustrated with the status quo in Washington. But the Establishment is already trying to claim victory. That makes it all the more important that we fight to rein in big government and end business-as-usual cronyism in Washington, where the well-connected get favors from those in power. Your work as a Sentinel is critical to ensuring lawmakers hear from the grassroots.

3. The hard work starts now. Winning elections is important. But what you do when you win is more important still, since it enables legislative victories and future political success. We have to ensure this new crop of lawmakers sticks to their conservative campaign promises. In less than a week, Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action staff will meet with every newly-elected Representative and Senator to start building relationships. Insanity Pretending To Be Government

SEE HERE  How is this anything but tyranny?  A law against sharing food?  What!  Are these people nuts and how can such a law be legitimate.  It is an unconscionable law.  The government that passes such laws is practicing tyranny.  Hungry and homeless people need to be helped not marginalized and isolated and the people trying to help them punished.  A government that does this sort of thing needs to be replaced.

Of Course There's No Voter Fraud: Move Along Nothing To See Here

SEE HERE Gee, I don't suppose having a 2.8 million voters with registrations in multiple states or 1.8 million dead voters who are still on the election rolls could be a problem, right?  No, just ask any Democrat and they'll tell you there's no voter fraud.  Of course they're the ones filling out absentee ballots for illegals and helping people to vote where their identity won't be checked.  What could go wrong?  Let's face the reality of it all. 

Democrats have been orchestrating vote fraud my whole life.   Some of the examples are epic such as the way they stole the election from Richard Nixon in 1960 or frankly the reelection of Barack Obama in 2012 or the epic voter fraud machines in New York, Chicago, Boston, and for that matter Northern Virginia and Baltimore. 

Statistically the voter fraud is rather easily detected as having happened but noone ever seems to investigate it.  Precincts that vote 100% for a single candidate despite the vote in the larger election being close to 50:50.  Precincts where the vote count exceeds the number of registered voters ... hmmm... how does that happen exactly especially when people are always complaining about low turnout.  It's time to fix the system but we have to have the political will to do that.  If we can't have honest elections then we obviously can't have honest government.  That way leads to tyranny and subjugation.

SEE HERE Yup the New York Times is the universal source of totally liberal BS.  Now they think that mid-term elections have no role.  Apparently they don't understand that the vision of the founders was to give the people a voice every two years by allowing them to reelect or change their representatives.  That's too frequent for the New York Times since it actually gives the electorate an opportunity to change things and to throw a monkey wrench into the New York Times' favorite tyranny.  It is my hope that the Times will disappear into irrelevancy as the internet takes over the dissemination of information and we no longer need self-appointed and self-important leftists to tell us how to think.  I think we can probably manage that on our own, at least we can if the schools don't keep dumbing down people so much.

The Growing Pervasive Tyranny

SEE HERE Freedom seems to me to suggest that the state should not be engaged in pervasive surveillance of your every move and action.  It's none of their damn business where I drive, who I call on the telephone, how I use my computer, or any of a thousand other things that they seem hellbent on monitoring.  My tax dollars should not be squandered on my subjugation.  We need much smaller and less invasive government if we expect to remain free.  This kind of thing is beyond the pale it seems to me.
