SEE HERE This is a must read. There are a bunch of important ideas per square inch and they will either capture your imagination and have you saying "Yes" or tic you off and having you outraged. Anything like that is always worth a read. Just the quote from H. L. Menchen is a treat:Did you study H. L. Mencken? In 1924 he wrote an article for the American Mercury where he defined the true aim of our then-fledgling system of education. Listen carefully:
The aim of public education is not to fill the young of the species with knowledge and awaken their intelligence. ... Nothing could be further from the truth. The aim … is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality. That is the aim in the United States and that is its aim everywhere else.
Don't stop, it gets better and more insightful. This is the kind of perspective you have to hear and weigh in the balance. Is it true or not? Freedom isn't free and a free republic requires an educated citizenry. This is important.
