This is an amazingly turgid piece of gobbledegook claiming that Republicans are appealing to racism. Listen and try to decide if any of these are really valid points.
This discourse only works when you don't bother to actually see how taxes are distributed already. The idea that the problem is that the rich make too much when the rich pay nearly all the taxes is just crazy. 42% of wage earners pay no income taxes and are net receivers of tax payer paid benefits.
The poor in America are the richest poor in the world. These sad tales that everything can be decided by attacking the super rich and contrasting them in the super poor doesn't produce coherent policy and it isn't honest.
The reality is that the poor in America have all kinds of safety nets most of them designed by bureaucrats to trap them in a cycle of dependency. When the Republicans talk about school choice it is so that parents whose children are trapped in a bad school environment can choose to go to a different environment.
That applies equally to the poor ghetto kid whose school is full of gangs and violence as to some kid from a better part of town that is getting bussed into a bad school so their statistics can look better. Notice that in this whole long diatribe there wasn't really anything about actually helping poor people improve themselves. I think that says a lot about the liberal mindset.
