The Only Really Constitutional Obligation Is The One They Want to Cut The Most

The United States military is our defense against the thugs and villain states of the world.  One can certainly argue that we should not be engaged in military adventures without serious national interest, but not that we should weaken the military to the point that we become targets for rogue states.  In a highly technological world one no longer has the luxury of depending on the separation provided by oceans.  Suborbital missiles can reach every part of the earth in a matter of minutes and increasingly nuclear weapons are within the range and capability of terrorist states.  The world remains and can be expected to remain, a very dangerous place.
