SEE HERE I thought this amusing enough to feature. There seems to be a strand in the human constitution that likes to be afraid of some looming and catastrophic doom. This particular graphic sort of says it all and lists a few of the fairly recent ones. I could easily enlarge the list. I suppose they sell newspapers or something.
