A Perspective on ClimateGate

SEE HERE One of the most disturbing things about ClimateGate is that it reveals how easily a few climate scientists could co-opt the system and create the false impression that the science of global warming is settled science. That is the opposite of the truth and despite serious efforts by others they were, and still may be able, to dominate the debate and exclude serious scientific work that questions their suppositions and distortions. What has been revealed in these emails is more than beyond the pale, it is a conspiracy that is fundamentally antithetical to the scientific spirit. How dare they?

Science is only selfcorrecting because it is open to dissent and driven by data. When you cut off dissent and start cherry picking the data to only accept data that supports your agenda you simply are not doing science any more. You are doing propaganda, pure and simple. So the people calling global warming a scam have been largely vindicated by these revelations. The key question is whether science will reform itself or be further degraded?
