Reliable Data? NASA? Not So As To Notice!

SEE HERE Frankly NASA has become an embarrassment. Somebody should put them out of their misery. Of what use are they if they can't manage the space program or do anything particularly useful. Long gone are the days when NASA was cutting edge it seems. Too many bureaucrats and not enough real scientists. NASA has always been one of the most politicized of the agencies, perhaps because it is a civilian agency and when it acquired the space responsibilities under the Kennedy administration it got a sharp injection of foggy-headed liberalism.

I personally remember a bunch of new NASA'ites showing up at the Navy research and development center I worked at telling us how they were going to be taking over our research and demanding that we provide them with sensors and the like. They were an arrogant and uninformed bunch. We were directed to cooperate with them and we did. Basically we trained them, which given their attitude was an exercise in patience.

I have great respect for what NASA accomplished in the moon program, but I also agree with Jerry Pournelle who pointed out that any agency willing to lay down a flight ready Saturn V booster as a lawn ornament for political reasons wasn't worthy of their mission.
