Pat Buchanan Explores the Awlaki Issue
SEE HERE I don't have much personal problem with the Awlaki issue, but it does make for a precedent which without clarification might lead to more serious "execution" orders. Shooting an enemy combatant in time of war seems entirely reasonable. However, when the war involve not nation states but terrorist organizations it becomes a matter of definition as to who the combatants are and where the battlefield is. Who gives judgment that someone shall be killed by pressing button somewhere that launches a missile? Where do you draw the line and who exactly draws it? There are questions and they are serious.
