The Vampire Congress: Michelle Malkin Nails It Again

SEE HERE
Democratic leaders have been promising the most ethical, transparent, open and engaged administration for years. Instead, they have delivered a bleak and creepy legislative environment that could double as a "Twilight" movie set.

You have to wonder at the transformation. Lord Acton said, "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Nevertheless, I've never seen a time in my life when power seemed to corrupt so much as this Congress. The partisanship has been growing for years as the left adopted a strategy of demonization of nearly everything that wasn't their particular view of things. This was the source ultimately of political correctness. On one side of the ledger were the approved ideas and on the other side was black darkness and evil. That was the mindset that they exuded and it kills any possibility of real dialogue. Joseph Sobran called the Republican Party "the stupid party" and certainly if reading the handwriting on the wall correctly is a sign of smartness, then the Republican Party has been stupid for a long time. Time and again they imagined they could negotiate with the Democrats and time and again they were betrayed.

The treatment the elder Bush got was an example. He had promised no new taxes, but to get a reduction in spending he promised the Democrats new taxes. They took the new taxes and reneged on the spending reductions. Bush got slaughtered and we got Clinton in the bargain. Now that's stupid, but is because of an expectation of honor on the other side. There is no honor on the other side. They don't know the meaning of the term. There is only victory or defeat. And their enemies, anyone they disagree with, are demonized. The question is obvious. Which side is really acting like demons? I don't think it is too hard to tell.
