My Favorite Defense from a Congressman
SEE HERE Gee this is my absolutely favorite defense coming from a Congress-slug, ur-man. I didn't do anything wrong, everyone was doing it. Well it's not quite that egregious but it's the same argument in miniature. The problem with it is that it's true. Maybe we should throw them all out.
Meanwhile the plot thickens as Maxine Waters joins the soup that Rangel is in. I suppose this is all likely to stir the Demon-crats up to find a Republican or two to join the soup and we can see the whole bunch throwing charges at each other: "You're more corrupt than I am, na na na na NAH na!" MAXINE WATERS

Where Has Common Sense Gone?: Floating and Not Engaging
We live in a society which no longer engages reality, especially the reality of human cultural engagement. Instead we float, avoiding all engagement, just imagining that things will somehow come out all right. They won't. We need to once more engage the reality that surrounds us and inform it so that we once more become a city on a hill and not just a slum of sludge that has aggregated as the flood passes.

A Bit of a Hoot!
SEE HERE No Rush didn't get on Time. He just doesn't fit their narrative. I keep hearing this word "narrative" used in that sort of way to describe news. Now I think it's accurate, but sad too. A narrative is a constructed story. Now the story can be true or false, but to call a news story a "narrative" and to worry about its construction is to be spinning the story to achieve a particular purpose, i.e. to be agenda driven. The problem we have these days is too much agenda driven journalism. There was a time, nominally before 1960 when journalism was supposed to be about facts and interpretation, spin, and agendas were supposed to be limited to commentary. Now everything is agenda driven and you have to despin the news just to try to figure out what it is about and de-toxify it to get to a set of rock solid facts that might then be used to draw conclusions. The long and short of it is that Rush got the story right here. Don't hold your breath waiting for anyone to notice. It doesn't fit their narrative.
Active Homosexuals In the Military — What a Terrible Idea!
Ollie North lays it on the line. Dumb ass idea!
Ethics Democrat Style ... Ha Ha Ha ... ROTFLOL
SEE HERE Go to link and click Play. There is some sound too. You have to love those Demon-crats, saying one thing and doing another all the time. The Keystone Kops had nothing on them. Unfortunately people actually take them seriously.
Delancey Place: Bacteria!!
SEE HERE If you have not signed up for Delancey Place you're missing a treat. They send out a short excerpt from a book each day and some of them are a real hoot. Today's is on BACTERIA and if you have not read it you're really missing out. Little did you know that bacteria own the universe, at least the part of it that they let us inhabit. You'll never look at things quite the same way again.
The Nature of the Tea Party
SEE HERE The liberal/progressive/socialist/leftist ... (have I left any out) Demon-crats seem to think the Tea Party was invented by their political opposition, those pesky, relatively stupid (I mean 'come on' the liberals have all those intellectuals that talk about reshaping America, and how we should be post-religion, and control the narrative, and how killing babies just before they are born is just a medical procedure ... you know the type) Republicans when in fact the Tea Party was just as much a surprise to the Republicans as to the Democrats.
Republicans have always been posturing as the party of small government, lower taxes, and all that sort of stuff. Then when you elect them you get Democrat-lite because they say they have to play along, you know, cooperate, with the other party. Now the Demon-crats never think they have to cooperate with anyone. Just look at how things have been going lately. We need to get the Republicans to show a little more moxie.
But I wanted to talk about the Tea Party. I've visited a few. I've helped the local Tea Party with their website for a while. And what I see is people that are pretty fed up with the lousy responsiveness of government to fundamentals like following the plain sense of the Constitution and not pretending that all the money people have earned is theirs to play around with whenever they want. The government needs to get new and more stringent rules that limit its power and focus it on what it is supposed to be doing and not letting it go on intrusive adventures all the time. Government is supposed to be a servant and not a master.

How Far We Have Come ...
SEE HERE The journey has been all down hill as we sap the strength of the Constitution. In this commentary Chip Wood, blogging on Bob Livingston's "Personal Liberty Digest" points out a couple of Constitutionally obvious points which the progressives have systematically ignored.
1) Article I, Section 1, sentence one. It reads, “All legislative powers herein granted are vested in Congress….” this means that no legislative powers are vested in the Executive or the Supreme Court. Nadda ...none!! What part of none don't they understand.
2) The First Amendment “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” Now this should be a slam dunk Congress shall make no law ... — "no law" seems like a pretty simple idea. Instead we get a whole bunch of laws that make indifferentism, or perhaps a soft kind of atheism the law of the land.
If we want to continue living in the land of the free and the home of the brave we better but the bravery in gear and start exercising our freedom to vote out people who don't believe the Constitution means what it say. November Is Coming!

Deal? Of Course There'll Be A Deal ...
SEE HERE The Demon-crats certainly don't want a nasty ethics battle going on right up to election day reminding the whole country of what a bunch of slime balls they are. I've always been amused by the posturing of politicians since there always seems to be plenty of corruption to go around. I used to keep a score card to see if there were more Democrats being scored on corruption charges than Republicans and while the Republicans got their licks in the Democrats were always able to keep ahead. Maybe it has something to do with the difference on average between progressive/liberal scumballs and conservative scumballs. Both are bottom feeders but the relative number in the population seems to vary with the number that actually have principles.
Interesting Story to Break on the Same Day It is Revealed that SEC No Longer Has to Respond to Freedom of Information Requests
SEE HERE This is interesting. I think we should have an investigation of the SEC to make sure it is not an arm of the government dedicated to punishing those who contribute to Republican campaigns. Just to be sure that they have not simply become an agency of Big Brother.
Tracking the Healthcare Law Suit? Virginia Rocks!!
Hmmm... If You Read This Piece as Motive Revelatory You'll Understand the Climate Movement More
SEE HERE It's not about climate. It's never been about climate. It's about green mythology a kind of spooky religion that sees Mother Nature as the earth goddess who is mad at us and makes bad weather so we have to appease her by doing various self-immolatory acts, like stop eating hamburger, stop using SUVs, create large windmills which Mother Nature likes since they are trophies to the Wind Gods and so forth. Worship Gaea and smoke weed! Those other people, the ones who actually work for a living, are really spoiling the earth.
Perfect Cartoon for the Day Obama Appears on the View
I watched part of the View today and Barack was in his element, surrounded by worshipful airheads. The only two that make my radar as occasionally showing spunk and independence from "the narrative" are Whoppi who while I don't agree with her much is sharp, and Elizabeth who I also don't agree with much but she's supposed to be the token conservative, which is pretty funny. Maybe conservative for NYC, but no real conservative would consider her very conservative. Today Barack told them that "We need to do more Nation Building right here at home." Last I looked we had a nation. Anything Obama wants to do with it will involve reducing our freedom not expanding it. And the news media is complicit. I'm not sure why a shock goes up their legs? Probably a neuron deficiency.
SEC Gets Much More Power but SEC Says They Are Excempt from Freedom of Information
Transparency? SEC no longer has to respond to information requests. Get ready to be hosed. You know "We're from the government, we're here to help you, or at least help ourselves to what you have!"
What's the Cost of Regulation? How does 1 Trillion a Year Sound?
SEE HERE It used to be that a million here and a million there and pretty soon you were talking about real money. I remember that quote from back in the 1970s ... Then it got to be a billion here and a billion there and pretty soon we're talking about real money. Now a billion is a thousand million and even in your wildest dreams there has not been that much inflation since the 70's. But the government is addicted to spending and regulation. The spending usually gets all the press, but regulation is a hidden tax on all of us. It sounds good when they put it in place but it rarely goes to anywhere very good. Currently it represents a cost of 8.3% of the GDP. But it's really worse then that if you're talking about the cost of government. It represents something like two thirds of the government income as an additional cost, a hidden cost of government. Government is rapidly reaching the point of controlling 70% of the economy. Welcome to waste and abuse as only the government can manage.
Running Away From Your Record: Yeah That's the Ticket!
The line I liked was "Republican Have to Have a Plan" and boy is that true. The Progressives have a plan. It's the same plan they've alway had Pinkie, "To Take Over the World." Freedom? Freedom? Don't talk to me about freedom, that's a losing issue. Talk to me about greed and envy and how we're going to take away all those greedy people's money to give to us, the people who don't have any because we've been sitting on our tail all our lives. Give me a break!
This Hardly Needs to be Pointed Out
SEE HERE The short observation is that for a liberal, if the narrative doesn't fit, make up a new one. They aren't lying, they're just being creative as they say things to influence your opinion. They are perception shapers, masters of the spoken word, creating new realities before your very eyes. Of course those of us who are old fashioned and actually believe that words should mean something have another word for this kind of behavior: It's lying! People that do it all the time to shape are perceptions are called "Liars!" and they are not to be trusted. But Ann knows that!
Discrimination Has Consequences
SEE HERE Religious discrimination begins by objecting to someone's religious views in the face of some contradictory point of view. Obviously if your morality doesn't allow you to say black is white then you'll not fit into a modern, decadent, rapidly dissolving state. Instead you will be discriminated against and made an example of. Welcome to the state of mind control and disassociated morality. "Truth?" ... "You can't handle the truth." The truth is that the land of the free and the home of the brave is being turned into something you'll never recognize.
Below is a video from Michael Voris on the homosexual issue.

Who Caused the Oil Spill?
SEE HERE The question is itself surprising since everyone knows that BP did it, right? Well maybe not. This is an interesting take that only now starts to question what the underlying causes of the spill might be. The bottom line of course is that it's a very very tricky business to drill in almost a mile deep water and the first responders can hardly be expected to know all the intricacies. Worth a read if only to understand how much more we need to know.
Perhaps the Oil Spill's Impact Has Been Exaggerated
SEE HERE and HERE and HERE The spin (remember the idea of despinning all the stories) seems to be to demonize big oil with a drumbeat of "the need for new regulation" and all the rest. I have to say that I think in the face of this drumbeat of demonization that BP has done a good job and that the whole environmental crisis we've heard so much about may not be much more than a ripple. It certainly has not been handled by all the late and inadequate technology brought to bear. It may not have ever been quite as dramatic and damaging as it was made out to be. It appears that the environment is more robust than the "fragile environment" folks would have you believe. So perhaps it is time to declare this particular crisis over so we can batten down the hatches for the next great crisis in a world dominated by those who govern by crisis.
On the View: We have to do some Nation Building at Home! Oh Do We?
Nation Building at Home? More accurately, nation destabilization and dissolution. The progressives are looting the country and when they are finished you won't recognize it. It will have been "fundamentally transformed" from something that at least remembered the promises of 1776 into something that no longer sees it as feasible. Instead we will all have been fundamentally transformed once more into serfs. THE VIEW
The Real Distorters ... The Media Spin
SEE HERE Now if you ever wondered if there was bias in the news (you know the obvious bias that everyone denied) now we know that not only are these folks biased but that they are in conspiracy to spin the news to fulfill their own agenda. I remember when the news started moving more strongly in this direction, injecting their agenda into strictly news stories. Now it has progressed to the point that it has become largely a single left-wing drum beat voice. Even Fox News which is the most conservative of the media voices is caught up in the flow. That's really too bad. It means that the first thing you have to do whenever you read the news is engage in a despin regardless of which news source it is. You have to look for the agenda behind the story. People used to do that with Pravda, which ironically meant "the truth" but of course it was only the propaganda. Welcome to "Pravda" American style.

Can You Serve On The Supreme Court If You've Been Disbarred For Defruading the Court?
SEE HERE There is something just oh so apt about this bit of news on Kagan's nomination process. Fraud certainly ought to be a disbarrable offense. That she engaged in this fraud is pretty conclusive. On the other hand since any abortion is a good abortion among the bloody minded left who think the world is over populated by morons (they're right but they've misidentified the morons because of their limited neuron count), how do you wiggle out of this one. It's still fraud but it doesn't matter because we agree with it? Is that a reasonable posture. Oh for some more neurons.
Where's the Oil? Not Much to Skim These Days!
SEE HERE What do I know? About the Gulf spill, not all that much. Here's the piece Limbaugh is talking about. HERE This piece by Rush Limbaugh goes back to something he said, apparently that caused an uproar, which seems to be that Mother Nature would take care of the oil spill. Now folks are finding the oil spill hard to find and Rush is crowing about being right. The bottom line is that Mother Nature ultimately takes care of everything. It is only human hubris that imagines we are some sort of big deal. There's an old chestnut about the only thing that can be seen with the unaided eye from near earth orbit is the great wall of China. Strictly speaking that isn't true. There are a few things that can be seen, but from what I can see searching around the internet the stuff that is seen is seen in telescopic camera pictures with long lens. That's cheating.
The True Character of Science Is Not Authoritarian
SEE HERE The problem is usually money. "Follow the money" is very good advice. Usually you will find when you do that that the trail leads to some motives other than purity, sweetness, and light. It isn't that money is evil. It is the love of money that is generally given that description. Love of money and power both lead to very bad places. Science is about truth, at least that's what it is supposed to be about. However, scientists are human beings like everyone else and they can be bought and paid for. Liberals are always accusing scientists that work for corporations of being bought and paid for by the tobacco companies, by the chemical companies, by the oil companies, by any company involved in anything that they don't like. But of course a far more dangerous thing is that scientists will be bought and paid for by government to advance the government agenda of more power, more money, more corruption. This is more dangerous because from this it is more difficult to turn back.
Science is not about policy. Science is about why things are the way they are and that knowledge in the form of technology often lets us change things in interesting and helpful ways. But the science first and foremost is about the truth of things and about understanding and fitting that truth together into a coherent picture. Science is a noble and wonderful calling. I've put up a number of Richard Feynman's lectures as links at Spitzenpopper. SEE HERE If you want to see what a real scientist is like, then watch Feynman. A real scientist is a seeker of truth not a sycophant of politicians and power merchants.

Some Of Us Have More Important Things To Do Than Politics
To Moms everywhere! Awesome! I guess the dads deserve a video too so here's the Dad's Life!!
How Do You Lose 8.7 Billion Dollars?
SEE HERE One has to wonder how you misplace 8.7 billion? This is the kind of thing that makes me wonder about the sanity of any of our leaders, political, military, or any other kind. I mean misplacing a few million, well that might be understandable. But billions? Have wars become just a cover for graft and corruption? What the hell is going on?
Mostly the Left Would Be Well Advised to Find Out What Is Going On Before Drawing Everyone's Attention to Their Stupidity
SEE HERE and HERE Well this Shirley Sherrod story may not be going away. She's not exactly a brain trust. She is clearly a bit on the narrow minded side and almost as quick to generalize as the Obama Administration is when they fired her. Fox News which was mostly an innocent bystander is taking all the Left wing wacko rage over their own asininity. First they don't check a story (which was admittedly a video taken somewhat out of context, although not that much apparently) and then they fired her, then the reaction set in, then they hired her, and then she confirmed that she was at least everything the original video implied, and now she's incognito or something. Pretty funny really. When are we going to get our sense of humor back? These antics are funny. Did you expect government to be such a hoot? I've reached the point of wondering what the next really stupid thing is going to be?
The Stupidity of it All
SEE HERE First of all Ethanol is a lousy fuel when compared with gasoline. Why are we subsidizing this bad alternative which is expensive and drives food prices up as well? If you want to help farmers I can think of a lot of ways that would be more effective than subsidizing food grains being diverted to make ethanol. This is all out of control green stupidity which somehow imagines that making food more expensive is a smart move rather than pumping otherwise useless stuff out of the ground. But then what do you expect when you put intellectuals to work figuring this stuff out. It's not that they are not smart people, but they don't typically have a lot of common sense. Has anyone asked the question where this strategy goes? Has anyone run the equations to find out how much of our fuel could be replaced by diverting farm production to fuel production? I doubt that this makes any kind of long term sense and if it doesn't make long term sense then the expensive adventure of short term subsidization doesn't make sense either.
An Empty Desk Is the Sign of an Empty Mind
I guess Albert Einstein, William F. Buckley, and Nat Hentoff have a few neurons over Barack. Maybe someone will come in with a paper soon. He's ready to make a decision. He rolls the dice and it comes up: 1) Spend money, 2) Blame Bush, 3) Regulate it, 4) Tax it, 5) Appoint a Czar, 6) Ask George Soros.
Michele Bachmann on the Tea Party Caucus
Job killing is the Obama specialty. More government does not build the economy. Far left radical ideology is in the saddle in Washington.
Sometimes a Tee Shirt Says It All
The picture I cropped this out of popped into my email bin yesterday or the day before. I think it captures the mood of a lot of people who wonder just when the Feds are going to start doing something useful. So far it just looks like the Obama Administration's solution to everything is more government spending and more taxes and more regulation. These are all recipes for economic collapse either on the gradual slope or the fast track.
Another observation that was cycling around the internet was that the Obama administration had the fewest folks working for it that had never held real jobs and so had no idea whatsoever where wealth came from. Wealth is produced by productive labor not by government. Government only consumes wealth. Wise government can facilitate the work of others by helping to ensure a level playing field, but this often means less regulation and not more.

Malthus Was An Idiot (Well Wrong Anyway!)
SEE HERE Other things being equal you can hardly avoid the conclusion that Thomas Malthus was quite wrong about population. Now don't get me wrong. We do live on a finite planet and it's obvious that you can outrun your food supply (of course you can't do it all at once and generally speaking since mankind actually is a thinking animal as opposed to things like insects) so what happens is that people tend to do things that avoid the problem. Among the things that we've done is improve agriculture, produce food preservation and handling technologies and others.
A Sobering Look At Unemployment
SEE HERE This animation shows the problem is a dramatic and moving fashion as the unemployment migrates across the country. Each district is shown color coded by unemployment level.
Bravo Gov. Christie!
SEE HERE Tell me again why Planned Parenthood deserves a nickel of tax payers dollars anywhere? What is all that about anyway? Where is the government interest in funding this organization that was the inspiration of the Nazi eugenics program? Founded by a blatant racist. I don't get the connection. It seems to be a Democratic thing mostly. I guess it was due to the fact that Margaret Sanger was so nice to them when they were in the Ku Klux Klan that they founded back before they began pretending to be for civil rights, the Democrats that is.

If I Put This Up Before Here It Is Again And It's Still Right On!
It's interesting that the disabled the comments because the liberals are such a lot of hate maniacs. Everything in the song is right on in the sense of being observable phenomena. Unfortunately those who are Obama Zombies can't handle the truth so they just sit there and spew venom, which gets a little tiresome since it is so neuron challenged.
Welcome To Mind Control: Freedom of Speech Be Damned
“A public university student shouldn’t be threatened with expulsion for being a Christian and refusing to publicly renounce her faith, but that’s exactly what’s happening here. Simply put, the university is imposing thought reform,”
SEE HERE
The university should be a bastion of freedom of speech and not a place where mind control is practiced. Homosexual behaviors have been considered fundamentally immoral since the dawn of time. The idea that this is merely bigotry is to ignore the entire history of human moral development. Whether one tolerates such behavior or not is an entirely different thing from declaring it normative. Attacking those who believe in traditional morality is to impose a new, bizarre, and fundamentally questionable innovation which frankly violates the natural law in more than one way. The university should not be in the business of telling people how to think but showing them how to learn.
I have personally encountered these kinds of counselors. They are willing collaborators with Screwtape, Wormwood, Slubglub, Toadpipe and the rest of the crew of the bureaucracy below. They wouldn't know morality if it slapped them in the face. When I worked at Unisys my illustrious boss decided our office needed to experience a counseling team he thought highly of. This husband and wife team came to the office and their message seemed to be that to achieve our highest human potential we had to renounce the influence of our parents. I was so outraged I told them they were inspired by demonic forces to their faces. Needless to say they were not happy, nor was I, for I didn't expect to be brainwashed as part of my job description. It sounds like this girl is in much the same situation. It is sad that this is the world we live in. It's on the road to perdition.

Some Things Are Just Funny
There are a couple of reasons this is funny. The first is that it is an issue at all. Exactly why shouldn't Kerry do whatever he can to minimize his tax exposure? Then there is the question of why such huge taxes as Massachusetts changes make any sense at all. Let's question the politics of greed and envy that moves so much of the political base. If Kerry owns a seven million dollar yacht why should he have to pay almost confiscatory taxes on it? That's an outrage. Then why should he be hounded by idiot talking heads with cameras when he does something reasonable like berth it where he won't be exposed to the unfair taxes. Of course Kerry is a bit of a hypocrite but that's no reason he should be any more subject to government tax rape than the next guy. If hypocrisy was a crime we'd have to indict the whole Congress and the president.
Paul Ryan Kicks Chris Matthew's Butt
And well he should. The babble of Matthews is simply the sound of two neurons trying to connect. Apparently the idea that the people who actually create the jobs in the country are small business owners who file as individuals just doesn't register with big union, big government, big business liberal airheads. Even worse they don't seem to get the fact that these so-called top 1 to 3 percent are already paying far more than their fair share. When the bottom 43% pay nadda ... that's right nothing in income taxes and the top 1% are paying over 40% of all the income taxes that are paid. Gee, I think we can tell who is getting a free ride. So let's rape the rich some more? I guess that's some of that fairness the left is always talking about. It would be nice if they ever got their figures straight.
How Often Does This Go On?
It's amazing that a small community can be looted like this without people catching on faster. I wonder how widespread this kind of thing is?
Washington Post On Wikileaks
SEE HERE The Post seems to minimize the security breach represented by 90+thousand leaked and allegedly classified documents. I'd be curious about the methods used to compromise the documents. The content seems, by the Post's account, to be a montage of tactical intelligence unprocessed and unassessed. Readers need to take that into account since that means much of it is likely unreliable rumors being reported from the field. We have serious issues of security in Pakistan and in theAfghan theater. Not the least of the problems is the 60 to 200 nuclear weapons in the possession of the Pakistani government. Things get a bit dicey if those fall into the hands of the Taliban.
A Reflection I Received From A Friend
No doubt this has been cycling around on the internet for some time. But I was struck by it so I thought I'd put it up. It certainly captures my own sentiments about the Islamic contribution to the American story.
Barack OBAMA, during his Cairo speech, said:
"I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America 's story."
AN AMERICAN CITIZEN'S RESPONSE:
Dear Mr. Obama:
Were those Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims first landed? Funny, I thought they were Native American Indians.
Were those Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and Native American Indians.
Can you show me one Muslim signature on the United States Constitution? Declaration of Independence ? Bill of Rights?
Didn't think so.
Did Muslims fight for this country's freedom from England ? No.
Did Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the slaves in America ? No, they did not. In fact, Muslims to this day are still the largest traffickers in human slavery. Your own half brother, a devout Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black Muslims as "pug nosed slaves." Says a lot
of what the Muslim world really thinks of your family's "rich Islamic heritage," doesn't it Mr. Obama?
Where were Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this country? Not present.
There are no pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. or helping to advance the cause of Civil Rights.
Where were Muslims during this country's Woman's Suffrage era? Again, not present. In fact, devout Muslims demand that women are subservient to men in the Islamic culture. So much so, that often they are beaten for not wearing the 'hajib' or for talking to a man who is not a direct family member or their husband. Yep, the Muslims are all for women's rights, aren't they?
Where were Muslims during World War II? They were aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support from the Nazi's in killing Jews.
Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001? If they weren't flying planes into the World Trade Center , the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle East . No one can dispute the picture shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day. Strangely, the very "moderate" Muslims who's asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo , Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many Americans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day.
And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the "rich heritage" Muslims have here in America .
Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates. They were Muslim.
And now we can add November 5, 2009 - the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan .
That, Mr. Obama is the "Muslim heritage" in America.
Muslim heritage, my ass.

The Enlightened Face of Islam
SEE HERE What kind of religion is it that leads you to kill your children? What kind of religion is it that makes you want to strap bombs on your children to have them kill innocent strangers? Islam at least as represented by these kind of members is demonstrably monstrous.
Global Warming Is An Invention of the Priviliged Class
Here's a left wing climate scientist who is outing the movement. The pretend research, illusive sanitized things, tenuous things ... I guess the last climate scientist out the door should turn off the lights. On to the next fabricated calamity.
Beyond Disgraceful
SEE HERE It may not be a surprise that our "ally" Pakistan, is betraying us and helping get our soldiers killed, but it is disgraceful that we seem to be doing nothing about it. this is likely not the whole story. Afterall these are leaks from an organization that also doesn't have our interests at heart. WALL STREET JOURNAL offers this piece. I am so fed up with poorly conceived military adventures that get our troops killed and the patty-cake we play with traitors within and without. Brave young Americans are dying for the country led by leaders that don't show anything resembling competence. We need to hold everyone involved accountable from the Pakistanis to the military leaders to the jerks at Wikileaks.
Here's the kind of things our boys do in the field. Heroes All! They deserve better.
Here's the kind of things our boys do in the field. Heroes All! They deserve better.
The Answer Is Blowing In the Wind
SEE HERE Well that was a lyric from a Bob Dylan song I remember when I was still a teenager or a young twenty something. If fits though. Wind is not all it is cracked up to be as a power source. It requires a big investment. It generates power at relatively low density with big wind turbines that only work when the wind blows and the wind is fickle. We see in this report that it can vary by at least 30% and probably goes away just when you most need the power for various critical functions. That means of course that you can't really replace anything with wind because you have to have a backup. Fossil fuels are going to be very hard to replace. In fact we may end up making liquid fuels from coal long before we transition to something else. We need to put all the players on the table and not play this stupid so-called "green" or "renewable" energy game. In the long run nothing is renewable and we're all dead and entropy is at a maximum. In the meantime what works is what we should do. A lot of playing around with notions from people who don't really know much simply won't cut it. I just about scream when people tell me we should transition to hydrogen. "Gee that's great. Do you know how hydrogen is produced?" Of course they don't. And if they did they probably wouldn't see the problem. If you're not technically informed then you should at least get technically informed before you join the conversation.
Enough Propaganda ...
SEE HERE E. J. Dionne is not one of my favorite columnists if only because he is so predictably liberal. He makes a small point in this column which takes Andrew Breitbart to task for the out of context clip of Shirley Sherrod. It's not entirely clear how the clip got edited originally or I'd be more inclined to give Breitbart some heat. HERE's HIS TAKE BTW Dionne concludes his piece with the sentence: "And the mainstream media should stop being afraid of insisting on the difference between news and propaganda."
Now that's a nice sentiment, but it's not at all clear that the lame stream media knows the difference. Propaganda to them is what people that don't agree with them say and news is what they say. Sorry, but that's sure the way it looks. And while I'm at it I think that goes for Dionne too.
Here's a bit more on Shirley Sherrod which puts the original story in some context. SEE HERE From my vantage point I think the story is the overreaction of all concerned. I think news should be confirmed and understood in context before it is trumpeted out and that responsible bureaucracy does not fire people capriciously. Shirley Sherrod didn't receive anything like due process. The news media at all levels didn't analyze or study the story in context. So I think it's frown faces all around. No gold stars.

Inny Meany Miny Moe — What They Say It Just Ain't So!
SEE HERE and HERE and then ask the obvious question. Are we in fact teetering on the edge of a massive sell off as foreign holders of U.S. debt dump it in anticipation of default or are we coming out of a recession so that letting the Bush tax cut lapse (after all it only affects the top two or three percent of tax payers we are assured) won't cause any major slow down in the recovery? I think it is obvious that we have too much debt and that increasing taxes is going to slow down any recovery given that we are actually in a recovery. Wandering around the financial advising world you get a very mixed feeling. Everyone is very very nervous and there really hasn't been much recovery. The market has been traveling sideways in whipsaw fashion and the pundits are all sorting themselves out as they look for the next trend, bull or bear to materialize and stabilize. Meanwhile it's limit your exposure and watch carefully. Sounds almost like the biblical advice to keep your lamps trimmed and have the oil at the ready for you don't know the time or the place when all hell is going to break loose. Well that's not a literal translation. I think the best advice right now is be very careful and don't believe anyone very much.
Funny ...
Some Old News You Might Not Be Aware Of
I remember seeing this coming up in other contexts quite a while ago (after all it's about four years old). It's appropriate to note that no-one has ever been prosecuted under the Logan act and one of the worst offenders of the act is former president Jimmy Carter. The questions asked by the video about Barack Obama's secrecy about his personal background is very odd to say the least. The video probably goes over the top in blaming Obama for Keynian deaths, but it is truly disturbing that he intervened in a foreign election in this way.
Video from HERE Listen to the last part.

Managing the National Dialog Using Distractions
SEE HERE The NAACP is largely irrelevant, but they demonstrated their ability, in conjunction with the lame stream media, to skew the national dialog from issues of pressing importance to issues that are essentially manufactured to distract the nation from what is really going on. Hopefully the economy will improve soon, but not if the Democrats continue to spend like mad and then raise taxes by letting the Bush tax cuts expire. Don't hold your breath that they'll do the right thing. You'll turn blue and asphyxiate long before that happens.
A Teachable Moment
SEE HERE We'd like to thank Senator John Kerry for demonstrating once more both that he is a hypocrite and that he doesn't let that stand in the way of his own self-interest. It's always nice to see basic economic principles upheld even if it's only the filthy rich maintaining their lifestyle. Those of us who have not yet achieved filthy rich status need to learn our economic lessons, among others that most of the filthy rich are living on wealth that someone else earned.

Rationing ... Now Really!
SEE HERE I don't know how long it is going to take people to get the basic government game. When you make something "free" because it is provided by the government what you get is essentially something that is more expensive then it ought to be, managed by people who are incompetent, and rationed because after they've siphoned off their "take" there isn't enough money to go around. People seem always ready to believe in a free lunch but as Robert Heinlein used to say TANSTAAFL (There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch). Stop believing in the tooth fairy and work your butt off for what you want. That's at least honest.
Some Words To Reflect Upon
As the Obama Administration seeks to fundamentally transform America, it might be a good time to ask "Why?" We need to restore the vision of America, a city on a hill for all the world to see as a real hope for humanity.
A Funny But Serious Question
SEE HERE How can every place be warming faster than the global average? What a great question and a clear sign that the claims are overblown. On the other hand it certainly is warm today! :)
The Raving Maniacs Of The Left
Here's a model of left analysis. Screaming and slamming, not a shred of anything but emotion. This is what I mean by saying that Democrats can't win a real argument. All they can do is scream and rage and rabble rouse because they can't actually win the argument but they can lie their way out of having one.
The Ten Commandments In The New Transformed America
SEE HERE ... and be sure to read the comments which are an interesting cross section of all the wack-jobs that seem to cruise the internet to slam anyone who is showing any resistance to the current transformation.
If It's So Great Why Are They Changing It All The Time?
SEE HERE Interesting move on the part of Britain to decentralize their health care plan. We should watch this one I think. What an innovation, putting health care in the hands of doctors? What will they think of next? Maybe add patients?
Undermining the Constitution One Provision At A Time
SEE HERE Why don't the anointed just fess-up that they want to run the country their way and hang the constitution? Mob rule, here we come! If the Founders had wanted a democracy they could have made one. They didn't. We shouldn't. I don't. Democracy is rule by demagogues and the mob. We already have the chief demagogue in charge, the NIC (Narcissist In Charge). He's spent bail out money galore to feather the nests of his cronies and now we face the next step which is institutionalizing the whole thing. For that we need a guaranteed voting base. Eleven million illegal aliens sounds like a start. Pay offs for all sorts of things to ensure support is another step. Buying off the unions. Encouraging voter intimidation. And don't forget the 43% of wage earners that pay no taxes but vote. It's a short step from where we are to a much worse place. Let's not go there.
Throwing Down the Gauntlet
This seems to say it all. I think some of the stereotyping towards the end is unfortunate, but the general sense of outrage is very appropriate. You might want to see this PIECE that touches the theme of a misguided progressivism.

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum
Well I ran into this image on-line and thought it was appropriate. Too often the two parties in power play games with our minds and mimic each other's punch lines. The general result is confusion as liberals pretend to be conservatives and conservatives support liberal causes proving of course that neither side has much integrity. We need people of principle and integrity if we are going to have a representative republic, otherwise just pick up your marbles and move because the game is rigged.
The Case For Impeachment
SEE HERE If you think that there is some reasons for concern about the Obama administration, apparently you are not alone. Former Congressman Tom Tancredo lists some of the reasons that Obama should be impeached. Be informed. Read the charges.
Oldie But Goodie from Ben Stein
SEE HERE I think it is still questionable that we've figure Barack Obama out. The first issue is still, in my mind, whether there is something to figure out. He still looks to me like a Narcissist in an empty suit. He's a stand-in, a puppet on a string with an agenda involved some pretty far left ideas. Why do I say that? Well do a little research on all his appointments to various positions. You'll hardly find anyone that isn't a very far left wack job. I've figured out all I need to know. This guy doesn't have our best interests at heart. That's all I need to know.

Pass In Review: A Morphology of American Presidents
This is fun and worth a look. Sometimes you have to lighten up since with all the things that are messed up in the world it can get depressing. Check this out!
Sometimes You Have to Stand Up and Object
Here's an interesting effort in Washington to challenge government by edict. Wrong approach, especially when it is material that has been rejected by the legislature. SEE HERE
The Double Standard: Something To Think About
SEE HERE The book "Nullification" buy Tom Wood is being touted in emails and I watched the Zombie video they included and it pretty much nailed the kind of mindless rhetoric which is passing as "dialog" these days. The typical run is "Say something serious" and then your opponent accuses your of something "Racist" for example. SEE HERE The letter to the editor of the first link gives some examples of the double standards that have become rather obnoxious and trump common sense in a society increasingly lacking sound moorings.
Privacy and Intrusion
SEE HERE I keep hearing people railing about privacy and the government mandating privacy for everyone but themselves. The government seems to think it has the right to have access to all information and that is just wrong. Tyranny in small ways breeds tyranny in all ways. One thread of intrusion leads to the next and what begins as a pinhole soon becomes a ravenous maw and then a chasm and a pit and finally a pile of carrion.

Let's Get Down To Basics
SEE HERE I have to say that when I look at the political scene I have a hard time deciding if the political system in the United States is redeemable. We have the lunatic Demon-crats who seem hellbent to socialize the country in the name of egalitarian liberal progressive power mongering. You don't really think they give a damn about you do you? Forget it. It's corrupt to the core and unprincipled, and frankly evil with a capital 'E' supporting all kinds of policies that are just immoral to the core starting with the murder of innocents and the plundering of people's treasure for their own enshrinement.
But are the Republicans much better? Well I think some are. But then there are all the rest who just seem like a slightly revamped Demon-crat-lite, only without their single mindedness. I hate to say it but singlemindedness, i.e. stick-to-it-iveness, what's another good word, commitment, dedication, the good things about Demon-crats (there aren't many) and something that the Republicans seem to lack. They are a tentative bunch, afraid of their shadows, rarely willing to articulate a principle or stand firm on one. Joseph Sobran always calls them "the stupid party" and while they are much closer to my view when they articulate and stand up for their principles, they waffle so often it's hard to say whether the principles are sincere or window dressing.
So that's the situation. What do we do? I think that is a hard question. We need to find people of integrity, principle and spine to put up for office that won't run off on us at the first opportunity to become slime balls like all the others. We don't seem to be making very many of those people any more. I want people who will take hits defending honor and not crumble and fade when the game gets tough. Find me some of those. I'll take a gross!! We need them in the Congress.

The Sheer Hypocrisy of the Left and the Lame-Stream Media
SEE HERE Well I suppose I should not harp on this theme. Pointing out people's deficiencies is considered bad manners. But when those people are exactly the ones who lie about others and point out imaginary deficiencies that they just make up out of whole cloth for the express reason of personal destruction, I think you have to say something. Good Christians are not supposed to judge people but they are expected to judge actions, and these things that the left is constantly doing are signs of a deep spiritual deficiency. I say sin, but the left doesn't believe in sin except for other people. I'd say "hubris" and hubris it is, but they actually believe that they are the anointed. Of course that is what hubris is. The sad thing is that the American people have been so poorly taught and so thoroughly indoctrinated that they believe whatever these folks say. It's like leading sheep to slaughter or the action of the Judas goat — which is a good metaphor for the lame stream media.
Could It Be the Food Nazis Don't Know What They Are Talking About? Looks Probable!
SEE HERE The purveyors of free advice about what you should eat seem to always be on the bad side of the power curve. Their advice has likely harmed more people than it has helped. Now the fat is bad for you story is hitting the fan. Low salt diets may be particularly harmful if done to the extreme since salt (sodium) is an essential bodily nutrient. Carbohydrates are definitely a no-no for those seeking to avoid obesity.
Playing the Race Card ... Over and Over and Over Again!
SEE HERE One has to realize how ridiculous this is. If you say something about Obama the only referent the left will accept is that you're saying something because he's black, well half-black. The whole damn thing is crazy. It reduces the discourse to a single phony dimension so that the left can cry bigotry. But as usual the only one actually being bigoted is the left since they started the thread and are the ones promoting the thread. Just one more dimension of Demon-crat strategy. Find something negative to ascribe the motives of your opposition to and then call names based on that prescription which you then repeat over and over and over again, while saying, "See so many people are saying it, it must be true." No, what we've got is the strategy of the left to repeat the spin-doctored lie so often than those who have to work for a living think with all the smoke there must be fire. And there is, the fire of the liars on the left telling that big lie over and over with the help of the lame-stream media. You'd think people would figure this out, but most don't have time and so invest their confidence in the media. Bad idea!
HERE is another example of playing the race card. Misattribution of ideas to your intended victims that they don't really advocate as you chuckle about how smart you are — list this a the "I'm smug and smarter than you, you stupid tea bagger" ploy.

Tea Party Caucus
SEE HERE The Tea Party needs access and the Tea Party Caucus that Michele Bachmann is starting looks like a great idea to let Tea Party people be heard loud and clear. We'll see how this develops, but it looks like a good start.
