The Ole Two Step: Screw It Up, Blame Someone Else, Fix It by Screwing It Up More

SEE HERE Here's one of those instances of the abominable two step that government seems addicted to.  The drill is pretty straightforward: 1) You make some law that may be well enough intended (although usually it is to privilege some special interest), and 2) When the law has either the expected result, or simply an unintended but likely predictable negative consequence you blame someone else and say that you're going to fix it.  At this point you go back to (1) and repeat as often as possible.  This has resulted in a byzantine morass of regulation often contradictory and pointless and based on poor research or no research or just prejudice.  In this case we'll now pass new regulations limiting the use of fructose or corn syrup or mandating removal or products from the market or some other mindless response.  Just think.  If we could get government regulation out of our lives we could go back to earlier and healthier times.  What a concept!
