SEE HERE Charles Krauthammer makes a few points today worthy of some reflection. "Constitutionalism" isn't a label that I particularly like. Nevertheless, the reading of the Constitution on the floor of the House of Representatives as the 112th Congress convened was historic, if for no other reason than it had, remarkably, never been done before. Krauthammer adds: "The reading reflected the feeling, expressed powerfully in the last election, that we had moved far, especially the past two years, from a government constitutionally limited by its enumerated powers to a government constrained only by its perception of social need."
The problem is that if we are to remain a government of laws and not of men we must respect, honor, and obey the law and only use due process to change it. Unfortunately for decades the Congress and the Executive have largely ignored the Constitution and made government ever larger and more intrusive. It's time to push back and push back hard or you will soon experience what a government of men and not of laws is like. Look at Somalia for a hint.
