SEE HERE The biggest problem with society, or so it seems to me, is too many people expecting someone else to take care of them. We're all victims dontchaknow? There are boogiemen everywhere, but don't worry, another law, more government spending, punishing those rich people who have the gall to make more than you ... we can fix it. But somehow the fixes usually make it worse so we get into the finger pointing game — the other guy did it! So change administrations and then government with a new philosophy will fix it. Oh that didn't work, it's that evil Keynesian economics or that evil Milton Friedman free market. It's always someone else and higher taxes and more spending will fix it, more government regulation, and nobody notices that we're becoming less and less free, more and more fearful, more and more distrustful, and it doesn't work.
The solution is simple. Your problems are mostly caused by forces and factors that are either beyond anyone's control in which case buckle down and dig out, or they are caused by your own personal failure, in which buckle down and dig out. Stop being a victim and start being a self starter. No one has an obligation to solve your problems and most of the people who pretend to are feathering their own nests. It's human nature, so stop feeling sorry for yourself. As Keynes said, "In the long run we're all dead!" That was one of his more profound statements and one that was certainly true unlike a good many others.
