The Rite: The Priest Behind the Recent Movie

Most people don't think about Satan much. Indeed, most people likely think that he doesn't exist, just a figment of primitive imagination. This is especially true for people who don't believe in spiritual realities at all. Mortimer Adler included "angels" in his taxonomy of great ideas because matter without spirit needed to be balanced with the category of spirit without matter. As human beings we are amalgams, integrations, some sort of intimate interweaving of matter and spirit. We enliven matter. As C.S. Lewis said, "God loves matter. He invented it." He also made us in the image and likeness of God. It's an interesting thing to see believe in possession on the rise as our society descends increasingly into a kind of neo-paganism.
