It's called corruption folks! Perhaps the stupidest thing on earth is having courts decide on the reasonableness of scientific points.  Sorry science is not based on testimony in court.  CO2 is an essential plant nutrient.  It is crazy to want to reduce it substantially.  In the past it has been much higher than it is today and there is almost no evidence that human activity contributes to the CO2 level.  It's junk science which is all we get from the media these days.  I think it must be in part because science is actually difficult so that no journalist, or very few, get anywhere close to it in college.  The superficial coverage extends beyond science however to the corrupting power of government when it manipulates science to motivate results that allow it to extend its power.  Ultimately reality will intervene, but then as Keynes said "In the long run we are all dead."
