Ben Stein on Gloom and Doom Ahead

SEE HERE How seriously should be be concerned? I think that is a tough question, but given the sheer lack of concern of the average liberal I'd say very concerned. If you ever want a reality check you ask a liberal and then flip the result.

Ok, I'm joking ... sorta? I've been listening to doom and gloom all my life from one side the economic or political spectrum or the other. It seems as if no-one can deal in anything but extremes. It always seems like the sky is falling to the Chicken Little's of the world. Of course this means we're in the position of the boy who cried wolf.

I realize no-one tells these Aesop fables much any more, but the boy who cried wolf did so to get people's attention and he got a lot of it until people realized that he was just doing it for the attention and then when the wolf really came no-one came to help him. We really shouldn't let our guard down. The folks in Washington are either wolves or idiots and it doesn't seem to make much difference which. They have the economy on the ropes and they're still partying. Gold and silver both just made all time highs and people, serious people, are talking about six dollar gasoline by Summer. Meanwhile the idiots in Washington are saying: "Inflation? What inflation?" They must have people who do their shopping for them and don't tell them what is going on.
