Illegal Contributions Not Unusual for the Obama Campaign

It seems stunning that Obama, a political unknown with no experience to speak of in anything but trouble making (community organizing) and a brief stint in the Illinois Senate should have raised three quarters of a billion dollars for a presidential run in 2008. There has to be a very interesting story behind that and it's likely dishonest since foreign contributions are illegal. Is that true?
