Sarah Palin: What now?

It's fascinating to watch the reaction to Sarah Palin's decision to step down. Is this a smart political move? Probably not, certainly not by any conventional standards. But we don't really know the whole story, so maybe in the coming weeks we'll get a more complete picture of what Sarah Palin has in mind.

She explained that she's not doing it for political reasons but for the good of Alaska which is being distracted by the many liberal attacks and accusations against Palin. "Thousands of hours and millions of dollars" and distracting her from the state's business. In Palin-speak this all makes quite a lot of sense. So outside of beltway madness where the only considerations are personal considerations, someone like Palin doesn't make much sense. Listen to the video — no teleprompter here. This is vintage Palin. High energy, down to earth, fundamentally straightforward: Go Sarah!

"I choose for my state and for my family more freedom ..." and she's saving Alaska millions and putting the agenda of her program ahead of her personal career as governor. Whatever Sarah Palin's future, she is a real person in a world of phonies. Since her announcement there has been all kinds of rather mean minded commentary. I was struck by one comment on the part of a view of one of the YouTube videos. It went something like: "When the liberals keep attacking her, how will they justify it once she's not in office?" Good question. Notice too, if you visit any of those sites how much hate filled rhetoric there is. Sarah Palin seems to be a stake through the vampire's heart. She epitomizes all that the dark soul of the left despises: family, care for the innocent, a forthright, capable, faith filled woman who is not beholding to the feminists. Hockey moms everywhere should be proud of Sarah Palin. She's sure my favorite pitbull with lipstick.
