SEE HERE A quick citation: “It’s baffling that the president and his party continue to insist on massive tax hikes in the middle of a jobs crisis while refusing to take significant action on spending reductions at a time of record deficits,” Don Stewart, spokesman for Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, said in a statement after the meeting.
What are we to make of this? We simply have a train wreck coming, one that is entirely foreseeable, and instead of putting on the breaks and looking for a siding to save the day, the administration is pressing on the accelerator and trying to throw the brakeman off the train. I call it "betrayal" and it sure looks like a conscious and intentional policy to destroy the economy. It may already be successful, so the agenda is merely to advance the schedule.
