The Object Is Not the Truth But the Narrative

SEE HERE Critical thinking must be at an all time low in the United States and in other places that buy into whatever narrative is convenient to push the political goals of the moment. The fact that there has been global cooling since 1998 is explained by a convenient, likely wrong, narrative that blames the Chinese. Oooo ... bad Chinese! How dare they burn Ooooo.... bad coal! After a while it just gets funny except that the mush-heads out there drinking the koolaid just node and mutter something about evil deniers and the nonsense goes on ever more deeply engrained. It will probably take 20 or 30 years of cooling to finally kill this one for good. By that time the Green Loonies will have spun up the next big evil thing.

I've been watching this minuet since Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring" and the "Club of Rome"'s nonsense. Notice that we've not all died of starvation, run out of oil, or any of the many minerals that the Club of Rome predicted would be running out. It goes on and on spinning up one new catastrophe that doesn't happen after another and then moving on to the next. Now it's Climate Change (that's elsewhere called weather but they mean something more ominous) and next we've been warned that Ocean Acidification is going to be bewailed. Bottom line, we seem to want to be scared and have some evil force to condemn for all our failings. It couldn't possibly be our fault that we don't feel fulfilled and satisfied. Maybe we need to have less narcissism and more old fashioned Yankee spunk, initiative, innovation, and just "Can do!"
