The poverty of Oliver Twist is where we are headed if the current administration succeeds in its plans to increase taxes to ruinous levels. It should be remembered that government does not create wealth. It only destroys it by spending in profligate and generally poorly controlled ways. Simply keeping wealth out of the hands of government will buoy the economy more than any government stimulus packages which largely amount to indiscriminate spending on programs that had already been rejected earlier or often ginned up only to spend the money made available. People spending their own money will always get more bang for their buck.
