SEE HERE Can we leave political correctness alone for children's stories. This is all just exceedingly dumb.
But I suppose with The Voyage of the Dawn Treader just around the corner, the movie opens on Friday, it's to be expected that someone would say something outrageous.
C.S. Lewis was pretty specific about who Aslan is. He is a supposal about how the incarnation might have gone in another world. It is not all that different from some of the ideas in his space trilogy. Smuggling Christianity into the minds of people who have been exposed to so much modernist propaganda he likened to passing "watchful dragons." Nothing speaks to the human heart like myth, and nothing is so powerful as true myth. Lewis learned this himself on Addison's Walk long ago now in the early 1930's. It changed his life and changed that of many others. One hopes that Aslan is truly on the move.
