2016 Obama's America — A Review

Well I just returned from the 2:10 showing of "2016 Obama's America" at the Regal Cinema in Harrisonburg. I didn't see much that I didn't know, but it was woven together and integrated, embedded in a rich cinematography that brought front and center the reality of the third world and the anti-American version of anti-colonialism that motivated Obama's father.

The movie's main weakness is that it is so psychological. The points the movie makes are valid and pointed and effectively delivered. The impact of the movie is one of putting Obama's worldview in perspective and showing how far it diverges from what we traditionally think of as "American."

The movie provides a foundational perspective that could be vastly expanded to detail Obama's associations and action. It sources Obama's inner philosophy and shows how his actions fit into a world view that it largely anti-American, a world view that seeks to diminish the role of America on the world scene. This can't be good for Americans and the point is made, perhaps not as forcefully as I would have liked, that we are truly coming to a tipping point.

Towards the end the movie documents the basis for Obama's stance on nuclear reduction which would reduce us to potential victim status. It documents the impact of Obama's middle Eastern policies which appear to be empowering a restoration of something like the Ottoman empire and marginalizing Israel. It documents Obama's economic policies which are setting us up for economic collapse if they are continued. These were all factually presented by experts in the various fields.

Perhaps it was too clinical. I thought it left much that could have been said unsaid. It was all sourced and factual, but it was also all understated. We see Obama through a lens that Obama himself created and that may not be the clearest or most accurate lens, but it is lens enough to see the great dangers that America faces if we continue down this path.

I think there should be a sequel which looks more at the agency of Obama's rise to power, the individuals, the strategies, the money and its manipulation, the policies, and focus on the pay backs and the motivations.  There is much more to this story.  Ultimately at least, it needs to be told.
