Words Are Cheap: Watch What They Do and Largely Ignore What They Say!

SEE HERE Well now we have a new crop of GOP Congressmen and Governors and what not, even a few Senators ... Does this mean anything will be different? Did the Tea Party change the way political clout is measured or meted out? Don't count on it.

The vainglorious elite elected to the hallways of power have a way of corrupting even the most virtuous, so the key is to watch what they actually do. Watch how committee chairs are assigned. Is it just the old-boy network, business as usual, or is there some thought based on principles.

Principled use of power guided by integrity and virtue is what we'd all like to see. The Founders knew how rare this was and they were great students of history. Read the Federalist Papers and you see more than one tale of how a lack of virtue brought down a free state. If we are to muster the resolve to save the republic we must restore not only principles but honor to a place of importance in the education of the citizen.
