Plenty of Stupidity to Go Around

They canceled the further production of the F-22, an expensive but proven entity in favor of the usual paper dream and now with the F-35 in development trouble we're likely to have a big vacuum in state of the art combat aircraft. Let's see, and withholding payments won't fix it. Indeed, withhold payment to the contractor and you sink him and sink the program with him. The idiots did it to Grumman over the F-14 and I was there. This one-size fits all aircraft dream that the pentagon seems addicted to has never worked and is unlikely ever to work. It fails to take account of the fact that the different services have very different combat requirements. But never let the facts get in the way of the dreams.
