Civitas — A Fundamental Value

SEE HERE "Civitas" is the Latin word for citizen. The significance of Roman citizenship was profound in the ancient world. St. Paul had only to declare "I am a Roman citizen." to be treated very differently than he otherwise would have been treated. Citizenship is the mark of civilization and the rights of citizens are fundamental and characterize the quality of the state. United States citizenship is unique because it confers rights beyond those is many other nations. We see however that our own president is more a fellow traveler with dictators, tyrants, and plutocrats than with those for whom the civitas of the United States is meaningful. Sworn to up hold and defend the United States Constitution, president Obama treats the citizens of the United States as if they were vassals or worse, serfs. Tyranny Rising!
