Privacy .... What Privacy?
If you don't know about this you should. The issue is that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Everything everywhere is storing your information. Google is archiving the whole internet. Every time you send something over the internet, unless it is strongly encrypted, it goes through a network of computers each of which can, indeed must, read what you are sending to send it on and can make a copy if it likes as the material goes through the net. Your privacy has been compromised and whether or not it will be exploited, it can be. That being said there is also the purloined letter effect which is basically the odds you personally will be targeted are small because of the sheer volume of information. As one of my friends who sends me email likes to conclude his emails: "Hey! ... Be careful, it's dangerous out there!" from the sergeant on Hill Street Blues. Good thing to remember!
