Did I Mention that Distortion (Read Lying) Is What Democrats Are Best At?

SEE HERE One of the most annoying characteristics of liberals is the way they twist your words to mean whatever they want them to mean so they can attack you. This kind of systematic distortion is a peculiar form of lying that the electorate apparently isn't too well tuned in to. That's probably because people are not taught much about rhetoric and about distortions of the language. There are quite a few cute ways that liberals use to distort and twist the record. One of the ones I've always thought was particularly annoying is the shotgun distortion. That's where you accuse your opponent of a zillion things in a pithy easily remembered form. The problem is that to defend yourself against the specific charges takes much more space and you end up sounding like "thou protest too much." A more abbreviated defense sounds like "you didn't address the charges." So this shotgun scattershot malignancy is a favorite technique. Meeting it requires you to cut through the charges like a Gordian knot. A principled stand can do that. Almost nothing else can.
