Quid Pro Quo: It's a Free Society Right?

SEE HERE Apparently not! The government is concerned for interns now and wants to impose some conditions on internships. The last time I looked it was a free society and people took employment of various kinds for various reasons. I've worked with interns my whole life. Some were compensated and some were not. I generally am one of those who thinks interns should receive some compensation, but what is going to happen if this goes through is that there will simply be no more internships. Gee, that helps doesn't it. Why do I say that? Because most of the time internships are a net loss to the employer. They are an investment in a possible future, not only the interns themselves but the possibility that the employer will find a promising new employee in an intern. Those are intangible benefits. In the meantime the intern consumes resources, any compensation they receive and the time devoted to guiding them by those otherwise gainfully employed which impedes their productivity. What business does the Federal Government have intruding into this area? If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Tyranny Rising!
